lucklaster: "With superior domestic trucks - where is the room for big sales at Toyota? There IS no room."

Flawerd logic.there are superior domestic cars, but the camcords still sell.

trooper1: You're tired,go and beat up some nonwhites. The new Tundra is no Joke, but it's still not in the same league as the F-150or Silverado.

frylock: "What keeps Ford and GM trucks on the road is reliability ... Then there's the solid frames (unlike the floppy Tundra), the invincible GM V8s, the better-than-many-luxury-cars GM interior, tough suspension of the Ford, etc. They're simply built and engineered better than the Tundra."

STRAIGHT TRUTH!

"the reason it sounds like its not running is because it isn't running, likely due to a busted camshaft."

That's funny

More Oil: "It is your DUTY AS AMERICANS TO BY AMERICAN!" No, it's my duty as a family man to buy a car I can depend on. That's why I drive a Buick

Really hurt your feelings that the tundra hit the streets with a lot of cash on the hood and they did everything they could to sell them.
And they failed.
And we all know it.
Like I said – why would people that drive the best trucks in the world want to switch to those?
Yeah, that would be stupid.
Wouldn’t it?

Looks like I touched a nerve. Domestics have had the market because the great unwashed think they are getting a deal. With 0% financing and rebates, any Cleatus with a Wal-Mart income can afford one to tow his or her boat to the river.

Compare resale value imports to domestics.

As gas hits $4.00 a gallon we will see who will win in this market. Or if all the players will have to rethink their positions.

Bring on $5.00 gallon gas, less unwashed on the roads and more on public buses where they belong.

......Racer:
Could it just be that they have had great ownership of Domestics? And we invited them? Hummm?
I have owned many different makes over the years and many also in my business. They have all performed well and some VERY well. I put them to real use...grinding use...not to kiddie race at stop lights. Don't even try to talk down domestic trucks because you have gone to your first rodeo in a toyota. Like I said: I and most truck owners don't give a damn. Comprende?

I guess a slow in output is much worse than say Chrysler who is telling their worldwide work force they "must" take a 2 week vacation in July to keep the company in business.

I bought a Tundra Crew with the 5.7 motor and 400 pounds of torque and 381HP. Nothing more fun than sitting at light next to a Found On Road Daily F150 and smoking his ass when the light goes green.

People keep buying domestics "cause their pappy done bought them" and their to inbred to think for themselves.

So to try and explain to you Cleatus posting types who must be hoping your GM or Ford pensions will keep you at "the river" when you retire is useless.

America makes awesome trucks and there is no way to get most owners to jump to a foreign. Why in the hell would they.

LMAO...this is GREAT news! :-D There will come a time, Toy Ota, when you'd wish you'd never step into the truck category. The Domestics will crush you in this area. All you're going to do is bleed cash and suffer a humiliating defeat. Go back to making glorified toasters and sissy cars.

Toyota is efficient.
I didn't know they were building 25k a month.
They only need to sell 17k to reach sales goals.
Now is not the time to release a truck. Sequioas too.
The 2009 Ram and F-150 won't find open arms when they hit in 6 months.
EVEN TUNDRA may show a sales decline this year.
If Gas is gonna be $4 this summer, 180k will be a good year for them.

Need More Oil...

Capitalism has long been the American way, bro...not Communism. Which means that if I want to buy a Tundra made by an Armadillo Bar-B-Qing Texan, I can do it. That's the beauty of freedom. Pathetic is thinking somehow that you owe something to GM. Shove your duty somewhere else.

Good thing Toyota is getting more realistic in sale figures of the Tundra. Work your way up and don't expect a new Tundra will just become #1 selling truck over two years while the domestics have done it for 30+!

It's the entire full-size truck market, guys...not just Toyota. Some of you idiots will cheer anything. I don't believe Toyota will ever abandon any one particular market, if there are sales to be had...So for those of you who think the Tundra will be done away with, don't hold your breathe. It seems that only Ford and GM abandon market segments.

Now that was funny , about limp penis. You gotta admit the new Chargers police attire. A city cop friend of mine says alot of the officers like the Imapla because it is good on city street's and unplowed side streets in the winter.
Had a v-6 Sonata as a rental once, I was pretty impressed with the power and it looks decent. Pretty smart undercover car as opposed to where I live where they still use white Crown Vics.

wahhhhh "uncommon" my ass, every major truck producer has scaled down, and toyota is likely to be in the largest numbers considering they have no HD and their trucks look like a shit i took yesterday.

Ford trucks reliable? lol We got 2 F150's and 1 Explorer, and they are total junk. To be perfectly honest with you, the few Fords in our fleet have been the most unreliable. The new impala's we got are actually not bad, and the Chargers have been doing well. We also got 2 undercover V6 sonatas, ordered 2 more which have really proven to be reliable. And before you guys laugh at us having undercover Sonata's last week one of our guys in a sonata was chasing a convicted pedophile in a stolen silverado and he easily caught up to him and forced him of the road causing the truck to flip many times and the driver was ejected 40ft from his truck. Only minor body damage on the Sonata. The caught pedophile was limp penis!

frylock350 agreed. Antiquated was probably a bit harsh as yes I realize these trannys are tough and reliable. The six speed in the Toyota truck, not proven yet. In ten years when you see Tundra's on the road with 200plus on the odo like you see so many GM, Ford, and even Dodges(though it's reality to say the Dodge is on it's second AT) then we will see.
Personally , I feel the Tundra won only because Motor Trend did not want to piss off Toyota due to having two domestic's in two years on the car and truck of the year roster.(CTS and Silverado). They picked it over all domestic 3/4 ton or bigger trucks from GM and Ford. Funny part is the fact the loaded Tundra Limited tested priced at at about the same as some of the HD trucks and one of the dually diesels tested was only 5 grand more.

@lamboz get a life,
Great Post!! Only thing I'd argue is that the 4L80 is only 'antiquated' in that it doesn't have 6 gears. Otherwise is a fully modern transmission that shifts extremely smoothly (better than the 6L80) and had rock solid reliability.

To elaborate the Tundra won because Silverado wasn't eligible for comparison. My little theory is that the reason Toyota didn't release Tundra until January 07 is so that for that year it wouldn't have to compete with Silverado for the honors and would have a competition free run for the 2008 honors. Its just good marketing on their part.

@trooper1,
What keeps Ford and GM trucks on the road is reliability, of which the Tundra has none. Then there's the solid frames (unlike the floppy Tundra), the invincible GM V8s, the better than many luxury cars GM interior, tough suspension of the Ford, etc. They're simply build and engineered better than the Tundra. Nissan's Titan is a better truck than Tundra even considering Titan's fisher price suspension. Also none of the things you mentioned are desired characteristics of a truck, they're desired characteristics in a luxury sport sedan.

FYI , the reason it sounds like its not running is because it isn't running, likely due to a busted camshaft.

And if you think supporting domestic industry is foolish you really need to learn about economics and how an imbalance of imports over exports (like we currently) can wreak havoc to an economy.

@cookie4me,
Yeah I forgot about that, you combine GMC/Chevy and GM comes out on top.

Foolish Patriotism? Why are so many on here, regardless of where you come from so against Patriotism to the country that you live in.Trooper1-Patriotism really is not a bad word and last time I checked it was still legal in the United States. Patriotism goes much further then just what kind of car you drive.
How stupid to say thats why domestic trucks are still on the roads. Toyota would not even have a fullsize truck if not for America. It's only produced and sold in North America.
Are you not the guy thats supposedly is a state trooper somewhere. Nice to know someone who is responsible for upholding the laws and freedoms of America hates Patriotism. Real nice. I believe you even took up for Triple1115 once on here, whom is one of the most biased and anit-USA Americans on this site.
The Tudra is a decent truck, a little on the strange looking side with those odd body lines but is it any better then the other fullsize trucks on the market. Probably not. Yes it is Motor Trends truck of the year which says very little in reality, but if you backtrack to early last year, Motor Trend had a shoot out between the new Tundra and the new Silverado. The Silverado won. This comes from a very import biased publication. The GM trucks get better gas mileage then even the Tundra with the base 4.7 liter? Thats with an antiquted 4 speed AT compared to Toyota's 6 AT??
If you are what you say you are, your very new to it and very young. Go ahead write something stupid back in retaliation.

Some of you can scream, whine and moan all you want – but it’s not going to sell toyota trucks. You can recite how a magazine once said all toyota products are superior to anything in the world – but it’s not going to impress truck buyers. And you can dream all you want about that used tacoma you’re going to get some day – but I don’t give a damn.

I got to drive one of these trucks and they really are the best trucks you can buy. Very smooth and quiet like a luxury car, accelerates like a sports car, and stops like a porsche! That V8 runs so nice, when your at a stop light you think its not even running, thats how quiet it is. The only thing thats keeping Ford and GM trucks on the roads today is customers foolish patriotism for domestic trucks. But patriotism only has short term benefits.

Definitely a sign of GM's dominance in the truck market. With Tundras and Sequoia models snapping cam shafts and busting trannies on an hourly basis, it's no wonder Toyota is getting out of the truck market. Hopefully, they will be getting out of the American market next, they don't belong here. This is GM country, not these foriegn scumbags playground.

Get out Toyota! Go GM!
