Toyota will use the annual New Delhi Auto Expo in India to show off a concept version of a microcar aimed at emerging markets. The car, which is expected to be the byproduct of a joint venture between Toyota and Daihatsu, will retail for about $5,000 when it goes on sale first in India before moving into other markets.
While it won’t be quite as cheap as India’s new people’s car, the Tata Nano, it will be similarly pint-sized. Few details are expected to be available until after the microcar premiers early in January.

The car will be produced by the Toyota -Kirloskar joint venture in India, although development work will come mostly from Daihatsu.
