Legendary country music duo Brooks and Dunn will be calling it quits in 2010 – after a 20-year run – but Toyota couldn’t let the group hit the road for their farewell tour without the appropriate rig. As such, Toyota unveiled the tailgate friendly Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater concept at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Designed by Toyota and The B.A.D. Company, the Midnight Rider concept transforms the Tundra into one serious tailgate machine – making it the ideal vehicle for the parking lots of Brooks and Dunn’s farewell tour. The truck is based on the Tundra CrewMax Limited full-size 42 V8 pickup.
Most notably, the Midnight Rider features a pull-out tailgate section, complete with an infrared grill, plenty of storage for condiments, an ice chest, a beverage tap, a custom made Kicker sound system and a 42-inch flat panel TV. When not in use, the Tundra’s bed is concealed by a one-off leather tonneau cover.
The exterior of the Midnight Rider also features 20-inch wheels (wrapped in 35-inch Mickey Thompson “Claw” off-road tires), a three-inch suspension lift, silver door handle surrounds and a unique grill.
Inside, the truck features a hand-tooled silver cupholder faceplate and a saddle horn shift knob. Passengers are kept entertained via a rear seat entertainment system.
