[Live image update] Toyota Verso MPV shown in Geneva

03/03/2009, 6:08 AM

By Andrew Ganz

Toyota’s redesigned Verso MPV took the stage earlier today at the Geneva Motor Show. Though looking much like its predecessor, the seven-seat European market Verso is a thorough redesign designed to make it compete better against the Citroen C4 Picasso and Mazda Mazda5, among others.

Not expected to be sold in the United States or Canada, though Latin and South American sales are a possibility, the Verso is based on the Avensis sold in Europe. Though looking much like its predecessor, the Corolla Verso, the new model is supposedly all-new.

The Verso will be built in Europe and will offer five engine choices, including two gas and two diesel engines.

With three rows of seats, the Verso will be capable of carrying up to seven people thanks to a flexible seating arrangement.
