Toyota , not normally known for its dealership bargains, will offer customer incentives almost across the board in a bid to attract buyers into showrooms. Toyota has experienced a steep drop in demand for its products as a result of the global economic downturn, and the rebate program, which we previewed last week, comes after a less-than-successful 0 percent financing push.
The rebates also apply to the hybrid-electric Prius, a hot seller up until recently. Just months ago, the only way to buy a new Prius was to order one, but now dealers are faced with a stockpile of unsold new Prius sedans. With a new model on the way later this year, Toyota is offering $750 in rebates on the current model.

The automaker is also offering $1,500 on base and LE versions of the Corolla ($1,250 on S, XRS and XLE models), $1,000 in customer cash and $500 in dealer cash on the Camry, as well as $2,000 on the Tundra. Buyers interested in leftover 2008 Tundras will find a $4,000 rebate available.

Camry, Corolla and Prius are Toyota ’s top three sellers and are rarely offered with rebates. The automaker says the rebates run through February 6.
