Funny how he said this is not the workers' fault but they are the ones making all the sacrifices. I haven't seen any millionaire board members out on the streets yet. One of their salaries could pay for at least 20 workers.

$170B to AIG that we'll never get back.

Double-standard here.

I'm an Obama-holic and I like his tough stance, but we need this kind of toughness with AIG, Merril Lynch's $3B in bonuses, JP Morgan who enticed AIG to sell them credit default swaps.

THese companies WERE turning around! It's just that the economy broke the car companies' backs at precisely the wrong time...when their products were JUST about to get much improved and efficient!

Inferior product and sh!tty resale values over the past decade did this to GM and Chrysler. That's the bottom line.

Chrysler (sans the new Ram and future Grand Cherokee) will still have inferior product for the next several years if it doesn't seriously change the midsize and small cars in it's stable, as well as serious updates to the LX based sedans. They are actually better suited with the numbers of models than GM, but as mentioned before, they only use half of the engineers that GM does and currently it shows. The Pheonix engines should be in their cars now as well and unless they have 300+ hp and close to 30 mpg - like GM's DI V-6, they might as well give up on those and buy from another manufacturer.

GM needs to update the vulnerable Impala to at least be competitive, and lose all four speeds. The Colorado/Canyon twins need to be given an Old Yeller treatment and taken to the back and shot. They are jokes. Cruze can't come fast enough, it needed to be here yesterday, as well as the Insignia. All else GM is actually in good with many in the press and the field, but updates need to come sooner, not later.

Unfortunately for both, it isn't good enough to be competitive anymore, they have to be better to survive.

First. Thanks Mr. President. I feel much better now...but in spite of your rhetoric of comfort, I detect bullshit. I think you should probably stick to writing material for any upcoming talk show appearances.
