Tuner builds 580 horsepower Audi Q7

06/06/2006, 12:47 PM

By admin

German tuner Nothelle has unveiled a 580 horsepower version of the Audi Q7. The car has a 580 horsepower powerplant with 530 pound-feet of torque. The power increase is achieved by fitting a twin-turbocharger to the Q7’s stock 4.2-liter V8. A similar tuning kit is also planned for the Q7’s 3.0-liter TDI engine, pushing performance to 275 hp and 443 pound-feet. The modified Q7 rides on 22-inch wheels with matching high-performance tires. WOW. I hope though that it was a typo on the TDI. If a twin turbo only has 275hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, I would hate to see what the regular TDI has.

those deisel #’s do seem a little low… a chip and exhaust alone should bring the #’s above that…

I dont think this SUV was meant to be lowered – look at the pics from the back and it looks very cheesy station wagon-like. I think it looks fine from the front but the Cayenne Turbo looks better from behind when lowered…

Diesel engines aren’t for power. They are for torque.

I am not sure I see the point of these I took a really expensive car and spent even more rediculous cash to modify it.

If I want a faster car I would just buy a faster car.

Holy Moseeeees! But why make an already very expensive car even more expensive. I agree with #6…Just call me boring…I’d never buy one of these.

#8 “But why make an already very expensive car even more expensive” Because there are rich people out there who can afford it

I hate SUVs, but like Q7. Now I think this is the best looking offroad in the market.

I’d hate to contradict.. but this is no offroader. This only exists because people the world over have to have an SUV because it’s popular to have an SUV. I’d bet the S8 would do everything better than this machine, and make sense without being a fad.

So if they slapped this on the Q7 4.2 V8, would it be possible to do the same to the S4, A6, or A8?

This thing rocks. Audi should be doing this themselves. It’s so cool it looks like Porsche put it out, not Audi.

Ok, so next step in car evolution is: 3 tons and 1000hp. Let´s make cars bigger and heavier. We add bigger engines and there´s no problem.
I just don´t see the sense of such an enormous and powerful monster. I know it´s just a fad and I hope it´ll change soon.

#2 – That is not a type-o

Standard TDI Specs:
233 hp
369 lbs-ft torque
TDI Acceleration 0-100 km/h 9 Seconds (that’s about 62 MPH)

And I agree with # 5 so calm down #15

Torque is more important for quick acceleration and the ability to tow.

And this thing IS an off-roader BEFORE these modifications were done (lowering, etc.) – check Audi’s web-sight:
