Tuner builds 650 hp Porsche 911 turbo cabriolet

07/10/2006, 10:00 AM

German tuner 9ff has put together a twin-turbo 2007 Porsche 911 Cabriolet with 650 horsepower. While Porsche so far has only announced a coupe version of its 2007 911 Turbo, 9ff is already building a convertible version with 170 more horsepower. Based on the all-wheel-drive 997 Carrera 4, the car will hit 62 mph in well under four seconds and 124 mph in less than 10 seconds. Gallery after the jump…

A stock Porsche Turbo is soooo friggin’ fast, I do not see the need for this. They will release the factory convertible soon enough. With its warranty intact.

Don’t tuner cars still carry warranties?

the 911 tubro with the triptonic(sp) tranny ran a 3.2 0-60 or something like that. i would be interested to know how well under 4sec this one goes.

I know I have said this before, but …

its a cool car, but these “tuner” stories are so weird. It must be their aren’t any hot rod shops on that side of the pond. In the US you can drive into your average hotrod/speed shop and you will see a handfull of 400-1000+ HP cars kicking around the parking lot and in the bays. Just seems very odd to me.

Well James,

Most of those hot rod shops make unique cars, and each one is different and are mostly one off’s. These tuner houses make several of each, and basically have “models” to choose from.

what does “well under 4 seconds mean”? 3.8? 3.2? 2.9? Thats a vague statement

my guess is that it doesnt beat the stock 911 turbo or else that would have been in the article.

I like this one better then the official Turbo mainly because it does not have the ugly boy-racer scoops and slats that the official one has.

Id like to see a stock Camaro go 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. And this model has 170 MORE hp. Camaro’s suck compared to 911 turbos. Please never say anything so stupid again.

Sorry Anonymous #11, but a Camaro to a Porsche is like comparing a chunk of Tofu to a Fillet Mignon. The Camaro is about how big and crude a motor you can stuff in the cheapest car you can slap together while a Porsche is about sophisticated, refined, Autobahn eating power.

Shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence.

9ff also is adding performance to the Cayman already. Another great Porsche tuner is edo. Here is proof:

This 911 runs the nur-ring faster than the Carrera GT. Awesome video!

The true power in this upgrade is the Death-Star shaped bottle in the engine compartment picture. I don’t like cabriolets but it’s nice there are full package tuners out there so that Mr. Jones next door doesn’t have to piece together his upgrades and truly fark up his nice Porsche.

Hey #10 “anonymous” of course it looks like previous 911’s, Porsche’s design is evolutionary. they work on what really matters which is the performance, handling, and comfort.
