Tuner builds 840 horsepower Mustang

05/17/2006, 2:35 PM

By admin

Livernois Motorsports has created an 840 horsepower Ford Mustang. Upgrades include nitrous oxide, CNC head therapy, a Viper-spec T56 6 speed transmission, RAM 11â€? Power Grid HD clutch disc, pressure plate, and aluminum flywheel, Dyno-Tech 1 piece metal matrix driveshaft, Eaton Posi differential, 3.73 ring and pinion, and Moser 31-spline axle shafts. The heart of Livernois Motorsports Mustang is a built 4.6-liter 3-valve engine equipped with a centrifugal ProCharger F-1A Supercharger and 3 core air-to-air intercooler. The vehicle breathes through a set of Kooks longtube headers and x-pipe followed by a Corsa axle-back exhaust system. To help the vehicle stop, they’ve added a set of Baer Extreme + 15â€? Slotted Rotors w/ Six Piston Calipers. The interior of the vehicle remains relatively stock with the only addition being a set of Corbeau CR-1 seats along with their 5 point restraint system ensuring occupant retention. The car is worth about $70,000. Images after the jump…

Whats the fuss about how ‘hot’ this thing looks. looks as good as a stock mustang, only with more HP.

So this car runs for how many miles before it needs a new engine?

Dear beloved “James_is_a_retard”,

There is a reason why manufacturers tune their engines for the stock horsepower they have, and the red line they have.
There is a reason why supercars are considered “old” when they have racked up 3000 miles.
Perhaps you will understand more once you have acquired more knowledge in mechanical engineering.

Thank you for your interest,
James the Magnificent

Sorry James, but the stock horsepower on cars such as the Mustang does mean very little. If you keep care of the car you’ll have no problem. I agree on the supercar statement but performance enhanced engines are A) nothing new and B) there’s nothing wrong with them.

Well, glad to see more HP and less mad mods to the body.

Just need to make the engine more bulletproof.

Note: A UK Ford Sapphire Cosworth from the 90’s (originally 2.0 YB engine I dont know which they put in) was running 850bhp and hit 206+mph on TV.

Again I will always show my love for UK Fords :)

Yeah but a Honda S2000 has over 100hp per liter!!!!one!!!1!!! American cars suck and are teh ghey!!!1!!!eleven!!!

Oh yeah, well American cars are faster than the Honduh! Rabble, rabble, rabble…

Why does everything around here turn to Honda versus American cars?

why are people suprised when a speed shop builds a 840 hp mustang, even if it is the newer 3 valve? Its not like there are not thousands of other shops around the US that do the same thing every day. This isn’t news people. BTW the weak point on the GT 4.6L is the conecting rods, they are made out of powered metal, everthing else is pretty strong.

#21 straight line muscle car huh? First off a mustang is not muscle car, it is a pony car. Secound off what is straitline about that car. I don’t see slicks, skinnies, wheelie bars, chute, backhaved, tubbed, or anything that would indicate it is a drag car. Everything you said was wrong. How many straitline cars run 18″ rims?

#25 get off your pedestal the LS7 in the Z06 is not without issues, yeah it has fancy titanium rods, forged steel crank, great heads, and a nasty (by OEM STD’s) cam, but they use cast pistons and powered metal main caps. Your engine is only as strong as your weakest link. when you start hopping that up, you better have your tune dead on, or melty melty.

BTW who spends the money on Ti rods and then cheaps out on cast pistons, expecialy on a SBC derviative. GM you are retarted standard forged H beams and some std forged pistons would make a stronger cheaper combo

Theres nothing wrong with cast pistons. As long as they are hypereutectic and not basic castings. They run hypers in the LS7. Hypers are a lot more sensative to detonation compared to forgings which are more ductile. However, do to the fact that hypers keep the heat in the cylinder and out of the oil, they yield more horsepower. Hyper pistons are definatley not a good choice on alcohol or nitrous motors. However, I run Keith blacks on a 600 plus blown SBC and never have had a problem. I just make sure I dont lean out. Also, as with any build up, a 20hp motor or a 800HP motor can live just as long…make sure you use high quality parts and build the motor right.

This car has all forged internals and the only part that failed was the ford factory cam sensor plug that came out of the valve cover. The engine is still in the car. It is also not jsut for strait line running. It has a great road race suspension and huge brakes on it. The seats are black, not purple. The car is amazing considering it can be driven by anyone that gets in it and it is extremely civil.
