Tuner facelifts Audi A4 convertible

05/18/2006, 2:29 PM

By admin

Tuner B&B has put together a performance tuning kit for the 2.0L Audi A4 that pushes output to 350 horsepower for a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds. To match the added performance, B&B gave the A4 an updated front end with new bumpers, intakes, and skirts. The bodykit adds nicely to the new A4’s aggressive grille and headlights. How come there weren’t as many engine upgrades for the old 1.8T? Or am I not looking hard enough?

you are definitely not looking at all, let alone hard enough. not to be mean or anything sorry if it came out that way. the 1.8t has been vw’s biggest tuner platform for the last 8 years the are seriously hundreds of tuners totally dedicated to doing major upgrades to that particular motor. just google 1.8t performance and check it out

A car that small makes 350hp and only manages a 5.4 second sprint to 60?

Steve…

You obviously have a thing against Audis (and homosexuals for that matter):

They do make upgrades for the 1.8T’s. Reason you don’t see many people modifying them is because they are difficult engines to work with. Take this from someone(me) who has about half a dozen close friends with modified(some highly)1.8 Audi’s & VW’s which give a TON of problems. Mostly electronics/ECU related.

First of all I resent the insinuation that I have anything against homosexuals. The comment you are referring to was meant as a harmless joke that based on my experience. I was simply recognizing a trend. Here are some other examples: most race car drivers are men, most country singers are white and most people in the United States speak English. I don’t wear dresses or drive V6 Mustangs. Do I hate women too, Jon?

Second, I enjoy Audi as a company. Of the German luxury car brands I like them the best. They have good engines, elegant styling and solid build quality. If I were in the market for a large luxury sedan the A8L would be on my list, and I think the R8 looks pretty cool. That said, 350 horsepower in a 3800 lb should yield better results than a 5.4 second sprint to 60, especially from an aftermarket tuner. The body kit is nice though.

…Forgot to say…
That A4 looks nice, except it looks like they got lazy with the rear end of the car. Is that a stock back bumper?

I guess I’m just really bad at looking for things on Google…
I myself own a ‘03 Audi A4 1.8T and have been looking for a few more performance upgrades. I’ve already done an ECU flash that gave me a couple more horses and some torque. When I was searching, though, all of the websites were European companies, and that threw me off a little bit.

Ryan, thanks for the link to goapr, I’ll have to take a look at one of their associate shops.

wow about damn time the cabrio got a facelift. the old one was just too damn ugly. but now look, 0-60 in 5.4 seconds with 350hp??? i have 44 fewer horses and make the same time, and thats being conservative.

Nice wheels. Wht can’t I find tight wheels like that for my Vette? I’m tired of the same boring 5 star wheels that have’nt changed much from 1985.
