Tuner pushes Cayman S to 380 hp

German tuner Strosek has created an upgrade kit for the Porsche Cayman S that gives it an impressive 380 hp — a figure many fans probably feel Porsche should offer from the factory. The car rides on 19- or 20-inch rims with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires (foot-wide tires in the rear). 0-62 mph is accomplished in 4.7 seconds. Ride height is lowered by 1.5 inches thanks to custom suspension. The rear spoiler — which deploys at speed — is made of carbon fiber. Various bodykit pieces improves aerodynamics and aesthetics. Now if only they could give it a limited slip differential so it could better compete with the 911…

so, for $60,000 from the car, plus another $20,000 at the tuner, you get a car with twice the price, less power ,and slower trap speeds than a SRT-8 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger

The handeling, I am sure, is terriffic, but that is an expensive badge the customer is buying.

yea Mike except that it isn’t an american car, that sucks at pretty much everything buy going in a straight line, and made out of material that was used 30 years ago.

That’s like saying , why buy a 911 turbo for over 100k when I could put less than $10,000 on my $21,000 srt-4 and destroy it on acceleration. Handling might be good, but that and the badge is the only thing im getting on the Porsche at that price. Is that what your saying?

I work for Porsche and I could confidently say that you are not just buying a car with terrific handling and an expensive badge. Craftsmanship, fit & finish, quality of materials, handling, responsive engines, service, and most importantly one of the best relationships with the company/dealer you can get.

Nice, love it. But, once all is said and done, what is the price difference between the Strosek Cayman S and a new 911?

The difference is that you will have better handeling in the Cayman than the 911, and worse acceleration than a $40,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

this car would eat an srt8 (of any kind) for breakfast. Straight line included. Weight plays an important role here…

There’s no explaining the brains vs brawn method, this is a car to enjoy for years to come, let me see you enjoy the Cherokee after you’ve paid it off.
