Hamann has announced a new kit for the Lamborghini Gallardo that gives it a new style of wing door. Instead of swinging straight up, the doors swing up and out. It might take up a bit more space in the parking lot, but it sure looks cool! Don’t own a Gallardo? Hamann says it will also offer the kit for the Ferrari F430 and BMW 6-Series.
Why arent there gull wings or ‘lambo’ doors stock on vehicles? Imagine it stock on ANY car! Unless theres a reason why this stylish and functional door is harder to build, why arent more affordable vehicles equipped?
kevan, a door opening vertically does cost more because there is a piston system involved. Anyhow, I like ‘regular’ Lambo doors way better.

its probably to do with side impact regulations or something, you’d probably find that the scissor action makes them weaker or something!!!

Maybe it is worthy mentioning that the doors on “that” Lambo never swing straight up anyways. It’s the Gallardo folks! Just normal doors. So, in effect, this must be like a Lambo door kit for a… say.. honda civic…

I saw these kinds of doors on Civics well over 5 years ago at Hot Import Nights. What’s the new twist here?
They’re easy to add, and they go out before they go up because the door latch mechanism and door shape require it, not being designed to scissor from the start.

never thought i’d see the day that a lambo becomes a poser-lambo
And how are you supposed to open the doors when parked in a tight parkingspace?…
Not that I need to worry, since I’ll never afford a lambo…
