Tuner supercharges Audi A8

06/13/2006, 6:58 PM

By admin

JE Design has put together a supercharger conversion for the Audi
A8 sedan, based on the 4.2-liter V8 model. The first customer is a
Sheikh from the United Arab Emirates. The car was also fitted with an
emblem-free grille, custom exhaust, aerodynamics enhancements, and 21
inch wheels. Output rises from 334 horsepower to 500 horses, with 600
Nm of torque, available at 3,850 rpm. Those figures are good enough to
propel the heavyweight from a standstill to 62 mph in just 5.2
seconds. The car has a top speed of 188 mph. Gallery after the
jump…

Damn, wish it was at least as fast if not faster than an S55. 600ft-lb of torque and yet 0-62 takes 5.2? Thats a shame as its a much nicer car design-wise to me than the S55…

Why not buy the A8L W12 or the S8? Both are slightly faster and come with a warranty.

Dave, come on! Are you seriously suggesting that a sheikh needs to worry about better fuel consumption? A lot of these guys buy dozens of cars each year… maybe its their way of pimping a vehicle.

Asher, I agree with you, Audis are so much nicer in design than Benzes. I really miss the last generation S8 (like the one in the film RONIN). I test drove a purple one about 5 or 6 years ago and loved every bit. I could care less if a Benz can out perform the S8 in the 0-60 by a marginal second. At the end of the day, the Audi is nicer all round, has Quattro and can do anything you want it to do for you.

I have a 2005 A8, last summer I took it from Miami to Warwick, Rhode Island and it was a piece of cake. The interior is a nice place to be in too.

That is a monstrosity. I like the A8, but WTF were they thinking? That big empty grille and that retarded boy racer body kit… COME ON! I hope the Sheikh is mocked by friends and family until he cries.

i agree! that grill is wider than a t-rex’s ass, and the body kit is digusting! just buy a ordinary a8l w12 or a s8 and have done with it.

The body modifications ruin a beautiful, TASTEFUL, luxury sedan. It totally cheapens the look of the car. But you can’t complain about the power!

In answer to the first comment, the car has 600 Nm of torque, not lb-ft. That’s only about 443 lb-ft of torque. That explains the relatively slow acceleration compared to an S55 AMG.
