I've driven the new S-Class, and I commend Mercedes on updating not just the exterior styling but the interior received a much needed face lift. iDrive debacle aside, BMW in the 7 had a clear better and more up-to-date interior. Now with the new S, the line is a bit blurred. Ed is right, however, because when we speak of performance, the 7 is still better, but for creature comforts the S is for Snazzy. :-)

I had lost faith in Mercedes mostly due to the previous S-class ('00-'05?). My brother-in-law had an S430 Sport (that replaced a '99 S430) and the difference between the two was startling. The new one felt lighter and sportier but the quality was well below the older model. Additionally, it spent at least a couple of days a month, every month he owned it, at the dealer getting something fixed. He sold it in less than 1 year of ownership. The new S class is a step in the right direction. I hope MB regains its status as a builder of the best luxury sedans in the world. The best sports sedans still wear a white and blue propeller :)

I currently own a BMW, but I still have quite fondness for MB. Here's hoping MB steps it up. Competition is great, badge snobbery is lame.
