British automaker TVR announced today it will close its Blackpool factory and at least temporarily lay off 260 workers. However, the company’s CEO insisted that he is determined to not close the entire company. He said TVR would like to stay in England, but analysts believe the only option is to move out of the country. “This is the quintessential British sports car,” said Andy Robertson, a TGWU official. “I thought it would stay in England for ever but that is obviously not the case.” (Reports: BBC, Reuters).

Maybe they could save the company by hiring a designer?

Make the effort of selling them in the US and they should be fine.

mak, what you said made entirely no sense whatsoever. i hope tvr sells cars in the US, that would be amazing, cause otherwise it’d be hard as hell to ever get a glimpse of one in person.

Making more agressive cars, pushing the envelope, call it what you want, that’s a TVR trademark. Quite honestly I find TVRs so ugly that I simply love them. And the sound! But you’ve got to admit that the haven’t got mass-appeal ( thank God ). But still, keeping the TVR trademarks in mind, there’s still room for improvement.
Weird thought by the way: A TVR SUV, I think not..! On the other hand, what the heck: A totally uncontrollable 700 bhp fourwheel-drive TVR-designed SUV..?
And why aren’t TVRs available in the US?

Peter g,
The main problem with TVR is that there are no airbags, no antilock brakes and no traction control. And I am sure that emissions play a big role in it too.

Jerry,
Guess you’re right…Another problem with TVRs is that they, albeit being extreme fun, are extremely difficult to handle.
