TVR may still have a future

Our friends across the pond in the U.K. — as well as British car fans here in North America — will be relieved to read that exotic automaker TVR may not be dead, after all. In an report in the latest issue of Autocar (May 3), the firm’s managing director David Oxley reveals that owner Nikolai Smolenski wants TVR to be able to make 5000 cars per year – more than double its highest ever output. He also said there are plans for new models to replace the present positions of Sagaris, Tuscan and Cerbera. They will use revised versions of TVR’s own six-cylinder engine, and an out-sourced V8. More details are expected in the near future. Last week, it was reported that TVR was to close its main factory in Blackpool, and lay off 260 workers.
