Two computer renderings show sleek VW Scirocco

Volkswagen’s forthcoming Scirocco is the star of the latest issue of Auto Bild. The Scirocco is one of several possible names for the automaker’s upcoming 2-door coupe. Other suggested names include Corrado and Rivo. Recently, at SEMA, Volkswagen all but confirmed plans to build the 2+2 sports car. Pictured right is a computer rendering (click to enlarge) that has been circulating on the internet in recent weeks. The Auto Bild image is similar, although it features arguably less aggressive headlights, but more aggressive lower air intakes. Both renderings feature a chrome-like front grille, and an extremely low roofline reminiscent of the Mercedes CLS or Aston Martin Vantage. The Auto Bild reports pegs the new coupe at 170 horsepower, though AutoCar said to expect 247 horses.

So far, VW has only committed to a “2+2 sport coupe that hearkens to the heyday of the Scirocco.” [...]
