The past few months have been rough for any foreign car traveling on or in the back of a truck. First the Kia Kee Concept broke free of its restraints and slammed into the front wall of its transporter — resulting in Kia canceling the car’s North American debut at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show — then a truckload of new VW found their way into the San Diego Bay in late December. And now, two of Hyundai’s newest vehicles are heavily damaged after yet another transporter mishap.
It remains clear how the accident actually happened, but the results are clear — two Hyundai Genesis sedans may be off the road for good.
The accident happened in South Korea and left one Genesis sedan laying on its side on the ground. On its way from its perch atop the truck, the car apparently smashed the rear roof section of the blue Genesis sedan being transported below it.
Despite the car carnage, no injuries were reported.

How was the silver car suspended there? Were they pulling it up over the back of the black car on a winch from the oil pan when a tire from the car rolling over the top slipped on the wax job of the black car below and a wind blew and it slid off to the side and dangled from the oil pan?
How does this stuff happen?

That car looks like a Mercedes design rip off. Reminds me of the fake designer labels sold on streets all over the pacific rim. Everything there is a knock off.
That transporter truck looks like it was built with a welding machine in someones garage. I wouldn’t move golf carts on that thing, let alone new cars.

ricardohead- It probably slid off the edge. Think about it, slidding off the rear edge pushing the car to it’s side, moving forward or over that bump pushes it out. Pretty stupid mistake in the first place, seeing how they’re beached on the sidewalk…
Andre- I would feel safer with the vehicles and a kitchen rack holding the truck up… well, that’s an exageration, but you’ve also got to wonder like richt said, what they’re doing on the sidewalk.

“It remains clear how the accident actually happened, but the results are clear” … Are you serious? It sounds like the person writing the article is actually younger than some of the people posting comments here (like BishopBasher who probably wrote that comment while he should have been finishing up his 3rd grade homework)
And yes, I agree with whoever said that these cars are barely recognizable as Hyundai’s Genesis since so much of the car has been ripped off of other automaker’s designs.

The Genesis is pretty dissapointing but Hyundai kia seem to have a problem with this
I think its a sign that they should rethink the design and make it closer to the concept

NOT THE KEE! NOT THE KEE! ahem… sorry.
Yeah, has anyone ever seen the transporters that all the other auto companies use? Those mammoth Ryder trucks and Atlas Transport trucks. And you wonder why? The transporter itself looks like it was built right along side the Genesis at some plant over in Korea.
Well I guess those are two types of crash tests the Genesis no longer needs…

Those Genesises (Genesi?) weren’t headed to the US.. look at the Euro-spec grille with the proper “Genesis” ornament on the hood. The ugly US grille lacks any identification at all.

I think it is in Korea. I recall sloppy Korean pilots that resulted in flying over USSR and being shot out of the sky (twice), now those accidents with transporting their vehicles. I wonder what under the hood with all that lack of attention to detail.

yeah autonut is right. It definitely was in Korea, notice the two taxi cabs on each side are not only other Hyundais but if you look at the yellow caution rope, that’s not English. Ok then, I rest my case.
Also autonut if the Russian Air Force wasn’t soo trigger happy and actually got a real visual of that Korean Airlines 747 that incident would have never happened but it was the USSR, so what more would you expect?

Hey SS4LIFE, maybe you missed this: “The accident happened in South Korea and left one Genesis sedan laying on its side on the ground”
Lopoks like they had the silver one on the top deck, and it wasn’t tied down. Then they loaded the other car and went to leave, or the Silver car was not in park and just rolled off. Either way, a pretty big “Oops!”
