The UAW has targeted Chrysler for its next round of contract negotiations and has told the third largest U.S. automaker that it will end its contract extension on Tuesday. If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, it could result in a strike. It is expected that contract negotiations will follow the blue prints laid out by the deal recently inked between General Motors and the UAW after a two day strike.
According to Automotive News, Chrysler expects to idle production at six assembly plants this week amid slow sales, so a strike wouldn’t be too detrimental to the automaker.

One of the largest issues facing negotiations is retiree health care. In 2005 the UAW failed to grant Chrysler the same concessions it offered to Ford and GM by shifting some costs to its work force. Wage gaps will also be a centerpiece of the negotiations.
