Undisguised 2008 Audi RS3 prototype photographed

In March, Audi officially confirmed it would reveal the sport 2007 Audi S3 compact car this fall. But according to new spy photos from AutoExpress, Audi’s A3 hotrodding won’t end there. New images show what the magazine claims is an even more powerful 2008 Audi RS3, mildly disguised as an Audi race car. The RS3 is expected to offer somewhere around 350 horsepower, according to the report, compared to 240 horsepower for the S3. With the S3 due this fall, the RS3 isn’t likely until about a year after, the magazine said. See Photo 1 and Photo 2 for more.

LLN you forgot to say, “it will not be available in the U.S”
I hear we won’t even get the 2 door A3? Oh well.

Audi is in the danger of putting out too many variations of its performance models. Why the S series when you can go directly to the RS series? It will confuse the market.

#2 very true… I really don’t know what the difference is between the RS models and the S models…..

My feeling is that eventually the S models will be substituted by RS models, especially when BMW’s M-cars and the new Benzes’ AMG start coming out.

Har har – the market is confused enough, I agree, but still – choice is better than no choice.
And yeah, Golf in a Versace EZunzipper, I agree too, but heeeres the thing: The Audi has much stiffer springs (****e for Europe/ZA, but no matter in US, really) more mass, and more insurance… but – more toys, nicer leather, build quality rivalling Bentley & Rolls-Royce (I mean this seriously) and powerrrrr!

I want one. I want one so bad I almost shat my pants when I saw the photo.

This car should come standard with the sticker: “ACHTUNG! Dies produkt vill cause verr bad incontinece schnell schnell! Standing still even!”

Fruity.

What i dont understand is why the S3 would put out about 240hp when the 3.2 sportback puts out over 250 alone.

I’m just wondering if Mahle Powertrain is involved with this, as Audi owned Cosworth (now owned by Mahle) a coupla years back!

Cosworth’s Ford cars absolutely rocked and there’s rumours they will work on the new Nissan GTR too

that 240 HP for the S3 must be a typo. The A3 3.2 get 250, as Ryan pointed out. Mybe they’ll turbo the 3.2 and get somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 – 340.

This is NOT the RS3, Auto Express have been fooled. It’s a racing car from H&R, check tyresmoke.net for the 10 page thread about it, you’ll see pics of this car actually competing in a race.
