Shortly after the announcement of the Toyota pedal recall, Leftlane reported that Ford was putting production of the Chinese Transit Classic commercial van on hold, due to a commonality of suppliers with Toyota. Ford and Jiangling Motors said that they had not received any complaints of sudden acceleration or sticking pedals, but they wanted to verify the safety of the part before continuing production.

Leftlane has obtained the official announcement sent out by Jiangling Motors, Ford’s Chinese market partner, which explains that the investigation is complete and the Ford Transit Classic pedal is not faulty. Jiangling and Ford have resumed production of the Transit Classic and cleared the light commercial van of its precautionary review.

At the time of the production halt, Jiangling issued this statement, “While there has been no report of any issue with the Transit, JMC has initiated a review of a pedal assembly part recently sourced from CTS Automotive.”

The pedal was only used in the diesel variant of the Transit Classic, of which about 1,600 were produced for Chinese consumption. Ford’s joint venture with Jiangling Motors resulted in the sale of 114,688 commercial vehicles in China last year.
