The motorsports photographers at KillBoy caught the revamped 2007 BMW X5 in testing with minimal disguise. The headlights appear to take on a different shape, as do the front and rear bumpers. See the images after the jump…

Second face-lift? Wasn’t there supposed to be all-new model in 07 or 08?

The X3 used to be that ugly baby sibling that everyone thought was the milk man’s. Now, BMW is beginning to force a resemblance on the X5.

I agree, this looks more like an X3 than anything else.

I thought the X5 was supposed to be all new for 2007? From what I can tell from this spyshot, not much has changed. It doesnt even look big enough for that third row that we’ve been awaiting.

BMW should quit the SUV business altogther while theyre not losing too much… this and the Volvo XC90 are the most uninspired SUVs in the luxury segment today.

You people are pathetic… If you follow these sites regularly you should know that all the spy pics that have come out for the past year of the X5 have shown that there was not going to much change to the body…. The X5 has been a huge success for BMW, sales are still strong even with people knowing a new model is coming out… Why would you think that they would mess with a good thing? Go crawl back under your rocks…..

Let’s be clear about the “ugliness” of the X3. It’s in the back.

The front of the X3 is sleek and appealing. The new X5 would do well to emulate this.

The current X5 is fat everywhere. Not sleek like a BMW should be.

the ugliness of the x3 is not just its back. its ugly from head to toe. x3 is probably the ugliest bmw ever.

I think the main reason X3 looks ugly is the small wheels. They used to come with 16′ standard wheels – that is waaay too small for an SUV that size. They should put big rims, at least make 18s standard and offer optional 19s. (like Infiniti FX).

They should continue to sell a ton of these. Hopefully, they utilized the interior space better than the last one.

BMW would be foolish to screw this one up.

X3 is a mess compared to it’s proper brother, the X5. It looks like’s it’s still in puberty to any other grown up SUVs out there. A girl’s car. Sleek? Laughable at best.

“this and the Volvo XC90 are the most uninspired SUVs in the luxury segment today.”

That title is easily won by the SRX station wagon.

SRX is not really an SUV, it’s what they call a “crossover” but I do agree, it’s just as pathetic

The SRX is not really an SUV, it’s a crossover… okay…

and what is the X5? An airplane?

They’re BOTH crossover SUV’s.

Can someone tell me why they make an SUV? They just dont represent BMW to me. Am I wrong? And ps, the back is just awful on both of them.

BAMF, you’re both right and wrong by saying that the X5 is not a correct representation of BMW. On one hand, you have highly-focused, brilliant sports cars – eg. 3.0CSL, M1, M3. But on the other, you have the practical and luxurious BMW – 7 Series, various Tourings, Isetta.

So depending on which representation of BMW you have, the X5 will either be a BMW or won’t be.
