ktulu- Yeah, I had meant Ron Paul if that was directed to me. The only guy I was seriously considering, or have seriously considered for the past few elections. But he didn't put his campaign in the right place when he had the funding, and the media shot him down early in terms of coverage.

But hey, it's both democrats and republicans that are getting people killed... Whether we like it or not, both truly want war, but one party is going for people who think we should still going after terrorists, and ones going after people who want to pull out. I don't believe in either party, and for that matter, I don't honestly believe in any parties atm, their all crooks. So was Bill Clinton, but he was in office in good economic times.

We need to drill in the U.S.A. Global Warning is all crooked anyways.

The GOP has picked a woman. She is a Milf, but Mrs. Omabster is MILFier.

I hope Americans don't go back 2 our old bad habits, & n ew cars use less fuel & put out nmoper power.
I also expect US gas prices 2 to drop rite up 2 election day. (Hirricanes notwithstanding $3.45 us what iu;m thinking. Part of a (ultimateluy unsuccesful) GOP strategy 2 Keep the Obamster off his riteful throned.

Madcapp you sound like an average liberal idiot. That wasn't even a coherent post. Just some emotional ranting with broad accusations that aren’t substantiated (otherwise known as average liberal idiot-speak). The article mentioned nothing about either political party. Also, you speak of “trickle down republican economics” as if it’s something that anyone outside of your lefty-circle has heard of. Please enlighten me.

It’s the republicans that want to drill here and reduce our dependency on foreign oil. But the radical-left greenies don’t want the country’s interests to interfere with Bambi’s morning shite. If you have done ANY research on the matter you’d know that the resulting environmental impact would be nothing like what these environmental extremists have made it out to be. The republicans were the ones on the senate floor speaking about oil solutions while the lazy freeloading dems refused to stay because they were supposed to be on vacation. And Nancy’s the Speaker for crying out loud!

Can you give me three examples of anything your double-talking dems in congress have done to help the citizens of this country recently? Don’t say it’s “W’s” fault either. Everyone knows that Congress has far more control over internal affairs than the president does. On that note, your democratic-led Congress recently set an all-time RECORD for LOWEST approval rating. (Yes, FAR below that of “W’s” lowest approval.) Typical liberal hypocrites.

Deanster: there's something going on. The other day many of us had flashes to a new format, all high tech and glossy, but it would disappear every time you reloaded. I had a post deleted on the Saab article today that- while slightly off topic I'll grant you- wasn't that vulgar and actually a true story.

Something's smelling like Maple Leaf smoked meat in the province of Quebec my friend.

It's unfortunate that the article is being as optimistic as possible. Great to be optimistic, but very unlikely.

You know though... I wouldn't doubt it if the U.S began refining more oil than we consumed by... 2020 or so. Neither is that far off or being completely optimistic. As it currently stands we have some of the largest refining capabilities in the world, we just don't dig up as much oil as most other countries. That's something that may change as well in the next few years, hopefully.

I don't think blaming it on republicans is going to help us. This article is neither exclusive to Republicans or Democrats- both have their strange, ignoramus ways of thinking that people are tired of. The candidate that I can honestly say is different is out of the picture now, and I'm not going to consider choosing between dumb and dumber.

It’s unfortunate that the article is being as optimistic as possible. Great to be optimistic, but very unlikely.

You know though… I wouldn’t doubt it if the U.S began refining more oil than we consumed by… 2020 or so. Neither is that far off or being completely optimistic. As it currently stands we have some of the largest refining capabilities in the world, we just don’t dig up as much oil as most other countries. That’s something that may change as well in the next few years, hopefully.

Hahahahahaha, W and those lying ass republicans must be out promoting more lies this election season. What are we gonna do... export all that leftover switchgrass gasoline in a few years? Or maybe we'll do it by extending daylight savings time once again. Don't you love how well trickle down republican economics works?

I believe we are all now much dumber for having read this. The U.S. currently imports about 70% of the oil we consume, and export significantly less than 10% of that amount, mostly as refined products.

For us to become a net exporter of "oil", we would have to reduce our demand for oil to less than 1/3 of our current consumption to be a "net exporter".

I think the point the author is trying to make is that we would be a net exporter of gasoline in two years, but it will still be gas made from imported "oil". I still doubt that we'll have that much extra refining capacity in two years, with no new refineries being built. It's not like everyone is buying a Prius or TDI tomorrow.

I think it is correct and sensible to say that the US would be a actually be net GASOLINE exporter specifically...and NOT an oil exporter come 2010 as mentioned in a Green Car Congress website article:

IS IT APRIL FIRST TODAY? I have to wonder about a report by a group called "BOOZ & Co.".
.

But, in the words of Eleanor of Aquataine, played by Katherine Hepburn in the film version of "The Lion In Winter": "...in a world where capenters get resurrected, anything's possible."

In fact, I fully expect US gas prices will continue to decline right up to election day (thanks to Bush's big oil buddies), but once McCain is elected they will eventually rebound to over $5.00/gallon.

This story is interesting but sadly out of date. US fuel prices have dropped nearly 45 cents in the past two months.. so how long do you think it will take for Americans to go back to their old habits, especially if the current trend continues?
