Vauxhall's VXR division is known for some radical performance machines, but the British brand's latest creation is truly over the top. Set to debut at the VXR Power Festival, Vauxhall has announced a 3,000 horsepower speed machine.

Jointly developed between Vauxhall and the Red bi racing - and appropriately named the "˜Red Victor 3' - the dragster is based on a highly modified version of Vauxhall's original 1967 Victor FD. Power for the Red Victor 3 is provided by a General Motor-sourced twin-turbocharged 8.8L V8, generating "over" 3,000 horsepower.

Although the car has yet to be put through its paces, Red Victor believes the car will be able to cover the quarter mile in just 6.5 seconds, tripping the lights at a staggering 240mph. We fully believe Red Victor's claim, especially considering the team's last creation - Red Victor 2 - hit 200 mph in the quarter mile.

As if a 3,000 horsepower dragster wasn't crazy enough, Red Victor 3 is actually fully street legal.

Look for the Red Victor 3 to make its public debut at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire on August 28.
