Vauxhall unveils new logo

04/09/2008, 10:39 AM

By Drew Johnson

General Motors has announced that its UK arm — Vauxhall — will be sporting a new badge come this summer. For 2008 and beyond, Vauxhall redesigned its badge to reflect “the rapid progress Vauxhall has made in vehicle design and overall brand perception in recent years.”

The brand’s iconic Griffin remains, but is now portrayed in a more modern light. The new badge will make its vehicle debut on the all-new Insignia – slated to bow at this July’s British International Motor Show — and will be affixed to every Vauxhall vehicle produced thereafter.

The new logo will be hoisted to the top of Vauxhall’s Griffin House HQ in Luton with retailers making the switch beginning in August.

The Vauxhall logo last received a minor refresh in 2003.

Too busy. A memorable logo is one you can draw from memory. I stared at this one for 30 seconds and can’t remember how it goes together.

I think it looks cool.

Mercedes probably has the most identifiable in the industry.

Doesn’t need the “V” and “Vauxhall”, very cartoony. 70s through 90s logos had far more clarity

What, a comment from D-bagger without dick and balls, and the logo is sweet.

Too much going on in it. Should have been reduced to an abstract. Won’t make a good tattoo on a breast.

This should be cleaner but instead it looks busier. How did they manage that?!?

I would have thought the new one would have a rectangular shape, to better fit in the Opel/Saturn grille hole.
