Following its world debut at the London Salon PrivĂ© earlier this year, the Veritas RS III has officially entered production at Vermot AG’s Grafschaft-Gelsdorf, Germany factory. The Veritas RS III has been a long time in the making, tracing its roots back to 2001’s Veritas RS3 concept car.
Essentially a race car for the street, the carbon-kevlar bodied car is powered by a 507 horsepower version of BMW ’s 5.0L V10. That power combined with the car’s 2,400 pound curb weight can rocket the Veritas RS III from 0-60 in under 3.2 seconds with a top speed capped at 217mph. Like the Dodge Viper, the Veritas RS III doesn’t include any electronic nannies

Originally slated for a production run of 50 units per year, Veritas now says it will only produce 30 total examples of the radical roadster. Twelve of the 30 units have reportedly been spoken for, all with a price tag north of $487,000. Deliveries will begin in January 2010.

The RS III marks the first car Veritas has produced since 1952. Veritas made a name for itself in the late 1940s and early 50s modifying BMW products, but folded shop after producing only 75 vehicles.
