Video: 2007/2008 BMW 1-Series convertible spied

06/28/2006, 10:59 AM

By admin

The folks over at 2Addicts put together a great video of the forthcoming 2007/2008 BMW 1-Series cabriolet in testing. The car is believed to be the first 1-Series variant headed for the United States. It is based heavily on the BMW CS1 Concept, which was first shown in 2002. The high-performance model has even been described as a “spiritual successor” to E30 M3 (1986-1991). While it’s possible the vehicles will be called a 2-series, recent comments from BMW officials seem to suggest it will be a 1er. (Thanks to Richard Yang for the tip). Video after the jump…

Two words,

Pontiac – G6

This car is waste of space here. Keep it off my roads or I’ll do donuts on the roof with my Silverado

At least the Pontiac will be the most reliable in this class. And with a 3.9 V6, it’ll run circles around this garbage. Americans need to wake up and realize that the real cars are at their local GM store, so you need to get your butts off your chair and go buy a GM

Not bad, handling-wise. But is hard to see the full beauty with all the camo.

#2, your roads! You are not the only one that uses the roads and I dare you to match your words -you empty shell.
If you have nothing to contribute, just shut your bloody trap and move on you imbecile.

What happened to the LA Times calls the Caliber heavy and sluggish article? I wanted to read it.

#8 I think BMW has decided not call this the M1 as that is the name of a legend. The Euro model is the 130i M-Sport. That big six does a lot with the lightweight car. This mabe a great car, I’m glad they are bringing it to the States.

Renton…

I looked up the 130i M-sport, and the only images I found are of the 4 door hatchback… They are making a coupe right?

Nissan should remake the 510 and have a direct competitor with the 1 series…

this would be awesome…

The only version I have seen is the one you refer to. They surely will build other variants. It got good reviews. Very back to basics BMW.

Jonas…

The 510 was a great car.

You can see a clearer version with sound at Autoexpress.co.uk, that’s where 2addicts probably got this from.

Spiritual successor to the E30? How about 2002. The 1 series is almost identical in size to the 02.

I can’t wait for the coupe to come here, been wanting for almost 8 years. Until that time I’ll be having fun in my 74 02, which by the way can run circles around my Sunfire. I like GM, but I love BMW.

Northeasterner if everyone ignored him then he would soon get bored and go away, it’s the attention these people love. Besides IP addresses change constantly. I change mine by rebooting my router.

Well, I’ve actually driven one of these–not the convertible, but the 120i hatchback sold in the U.K.–and it’s an absolute kick to drive. It has the handling balance of a Miata, but with firmer, meatier steering, room for four, a real trunk, and 30+ average MPG. Weighs less than 3,000 lbs to boot. If it comes to the U.S. in non-convertible guise, it’ll be an instant hit with enthusiasts. I’d certainly consider buying one.

after watching the video… im not certain that the car shown is a bmw. it doesnt have any of the typical lines. Wheels arent as seen on any other bmw. No grill and strange light cluster front and back.
