Video: 2009 Chevrolet Camaro announcement, commentary

08/11/2006, 5:29 PM

By admin

Yesterday, we told you how General Motors had officially announced plans to build a production version of the popular Chevy Camaro Concept. We’ve since put together a video with footage from the celebration event in Detroit, with commentary from GM executives, including Bob Lutz and Rick Wagoner. Lutz explains how GM decided to do a modern interpretation of the classic Camaro, rather than a replica. There’s also reaction from GM fans, plus some driving footage of the concept on the streets. Video after the jump…

I still want to have numbers, acceleration etc. but as of now they don’t have the whole shi-bang figured out. It looks heavy to me and bulky, but that’s just my opinion.

They’ll never let me buy one, I’m just not fat enough and way too sophisticated.

no argument the concept looks amazing, but can GM really translate its current form to production? sorry to say, the track record makes it look doubtful.

For those of you who are getting tired of all the videos and stuff, and the fact that a large contribution of todays news was about the Camaro concept well it most likely will continue.
They want to keep the interests high, because it will take a while (2009) for the car to get onto the market and they need to generate alot of interest to get it selling good when it does come out. 2009 is a long time, in my opinion they should launch it in 2008 around the time the Challenger will come out (somewhat different market but it’s still a pony car) and before redesigned Mustang (2009??).

I am already bored to death of this thing. I have a full head of teeth, I don’t live in a trailer park, I am not dating my cousin and my favorite band is not the Dixie Chicks so I have zero interest in some Mullet wearing dude’s wet dream.

And to the dude who wishes the japanese companies could be so innovative, that was the funniest **** I have read ever. The Camaro is about as innovative as thumbtac. It’s a honkin, lazy American lead weight strapped to a trashcan. It’ll have the refinement of a Briggs and Stratton engine in a wood chipper. No thanks

Probably will buy the V6 model though, I aleady have a Tunderbird LX and a Ford F150 that sucks gas like crazy! Let’s keep that car on the road! Good luck everyone!!!! Rex, from Tampa, FL!

I agree with everyone, why 2009. I want it now and was told by a chevy dealer that they would have them out next summer 2007, now I have to buy a stupid mustang that everybody already has. Even poor people are driving them. No offense.
