An Indianapolis team has shoehorned a Phantom fighter plane’s jet engine into a standard yellow school bus to create a monster machine capable of hitting 367 mph – while guzzling 150 gallons of rocket fuel over just a single quarter mile run.
The School Time Jet-Powered School Bus, as creator Paul Stender and Indy Boys Inc. call it, was built to go fast and, apparently, to educate kids.
“I built the bus for two reasons. The first is to entertain people because, come on, it’s a jet bus,” Stender told the Telegraph. “The second is to keep kids off drugs. Jets are hot, drugs are not.
The jet-propelled school bus is also capable of shooting 80 foot flames out of the back. A green machine it most certainly is not.
