UPDATED – Videos: Audi R8 in motion

09/28/2006, 12:39 PM

(Second video added) Yesterday, we brought you the world premier of the 2008 Audi R8 sports car. Now, two videos are available of the stunning coupe. Equipped with a 420 horsepower V8 engine riding on a Lamborghini Gallardo platform, the R8 is by far Audi’s most performance-oriented model to date. The first video includes some track driving shots and footage from the unveiling at the Paris Motor Show yesterday evening. The car’s unique headlight system can be seen in action, and viewers get a better idea of how the car might actually look in person. We also get a glimpse of the R8’s automated manual in action, which can be operated via a joystick or using paddle shifters. The second video provides some great audio of the car’s engine, more track footage, and studio shots. Videos after the jump…

Not very good looking, especially with that side panel thing. I’d have to see in person to pass final judgement though. For the money I’d rather have a Z06 and $30k in the bank…

I’d have to agree with what someone said earlier about the debut…..looks like a 350Z/G35 Coupe from the side. I thought I didn’t mind the black carbon fiber side (something new and different), but after seeing the video, I really don’t like it now. The lights are sweet, performance numbers look good, and overall it looks nice….BUT, I don’t think it’s enough to pull people away from Aston, Porsche. Skyline???

from looking at one of the images in another update, i’m kinda worried that the torque numbers are pretty low. something like 300 lb-ft

What is with the 8th grade Biology movie soundtrack in the second video? I wonder how much this R8 is going to cost….
