Video: Dodge Avenger Concept

09/20/2006, 10:24 AM

Earlier, we told you about the unveiling of the 2007 Dodge Avenger Concept. In addition to the photography you’ve already seen, Chrysler has released a video of the Avenger with discussion of the development process. Although it’s a concept in name, a production version of the Avenger will hit the assembly line in the coming months, and should be nearly identical to this vehicle. Video after the jump…

why does dodge continue with its boxy styling? and why does the avenger so closely resemble a miniaturized charger? one thing is for sure, dodge’s styling is unique

Smart move by Dodge. The car intensionally resemble a mini charger which is a nice looking car anyway. Seeing as the charger is unavailable to the europeans, this will be like original design to us so should sell well compared to the class standards such as the Passats, Mondeo and Vectra’s on looks alone (The accords and toyota avensis are regarded as Pieces Of ****s in europe because thats what they really are).

Dodge probably plans to change the Charger significantly on the next generation hopefully to resemble the concept of the late 90’s.

I agree.
Some don’t like the in-your-face styling, but it sure gets your attention. RAH!

My ONLY question: is it front wheel drive? If not, then super for Dodge for giving a sporting vehicle what it needs to back up it’s styling.

Bonquisha: Read up before speaking. The replacement for the Sebring and Avenger was going to be on the new Galant platform, but that was abandoned. This is a Chrysler platform.

All they have to do is build a small rear wheel drive sedan or coupe under $20k with a V-6. Why is this so difficult?

I would never buy this thing. I will never buy a FWD Mitsu Eclipse. I will never buy a sport FWD car of any type unless it weighs 2600lbs or less.

Automakers need to make money, I guess. I just wish they’d still build respectable cars for those of us who know what we’re looking for and don’t have a lot to spend and refuse to compromise on a purchase.
