We found an interesting video of of a Lamborghini police car in Italy. This is not exactly a new story, but it this is the first video we’ve seen of the car. The Lamborghini Gallardo has a 500 horsepower V10 engine and a top speed of 192 mph. The Leftlane Perspective: It must be comforting to know the police have a car that enables them to drive as quickly and wildly as the common man — with no oversight, of course.

Awesome! But I wonder what they’re going to do if they have to arrest someone. Do they strap them to the roof.

#3 – They don’t actually use the car for arrests. I read in the newspaper, a while back, and in #5’s article that they use it for high speed chases, and for traing in high speed chases.

#5: so they’re goin to sadly commit $50,000 worth of damage just to fishtail a villian in a highspeed chase to stop him??

I am italian and know one of the 5 officers who get to drive this beauty.
I have been in it and if you ever get to see the highway it is meant to be used on, you’d realize it would be impossible to use that on an high speed chase: the Salerno-Reggio Calabria (highway connecting those two small cities) has a very friable pave and is usually full of holes. There are only short segments where you could actually floor the accelerator.
So.. it’s just a waste of money. But still, enormously cool.
I felt like I was in a Need for Speed game the first time I got in it.
