Video of the day: E30 BMW M3 roasts Supra

02/20/2006, 1:40 PM

By admin

Even by today’s standards, the E30 BMW M3 (1986-1991) is a reasonably quick car. Throw on a turbo and some other upgrades and it becomes something entirely different. We found a great video of an E30 BMW M3 equipped with a turbo racing a Toyota Supra on a drag strip. The M3 runs the quarter mile in a jaw-dropping 9.46 seconds — that’s nearing Koenigsegg and Bugatti territory.

That is a bogus video IMO. First the unmistakeble sound of a V8, and ProMod V8?? Second 218MPH with a 9.46 1/4 mile time? Something doesn’t add up.

Well wait a minute here. The top speed may have been 218mph and this is possible because that means 1/4mile with an average speed of 95mph which is within the realm of possibility. I think the acceleration numbers are reachable with Turbos and all the other extras( this could be a host of upgrades).

I researched a few quarter mile times…Considering mustangs run 8 second quarter miles @ 150/160 and mustangs are RWD, like this M3, I think this is fake…

Did anybody take out a stopwatch, the actual time when the sign lit up was 8.6seconds, in which the BMW wasn’t even cross the line yet when it lit up. BOOOGUUUSSSS!!!!!

and NO, cole, if it was measured in “kph” wouldn’t they instead call it the “400meter run” instead of a 1/4mile strip????

Anyone who believes that video… Well.. Is very gullible. doctored is the word for video.

Did anyone notice that the BMW hesitated about a second before starting to drag? This means he did the 1/4 mile in 8.x seconds and would suggest that 218 MPH is reasonable.

Dude the fastest promods will run around 6.4 seconds at 209mph. Should I post the videos. If you really believe that the BMW ran the 1/4 mile in 9 seconds and at 218mph, well frankly your an idiot.

Watch the video closely you can see it’s speeded up and the video is doctored. Not to mention the audio is not of that dragrace. End of story. It’s not real.

Weiner Dog: No, actually, you can sit at the light as long as you want – the timer doesn’t start until you leave. The 9.46 SHOULD be a measure of the time it takes from when it leaves, to when the E.T. shows up on the lights – and when I timed that with a watch I got barely under 8 seconds. Even if you’re generous as Kendall was, it’s still way off. This video’s been doctored, and I’m saying that without even hearing the sound.

Tommy, get a grip. It’s not about any car beating anything. The video is a fake.

1. Audio track is of top fuel dragsters.
2. BMW runs 9.4 seconds at 218MPH. Think about it a little?
3. Watch the video very closely, it is speeded up.
4. Fake video.

5. I don’t doubt that the BMW beat the Supra, I could care less. What I care about is the blatant bs of the video and people believe it. Gullible is the word I would use.

it must not be real b/c no supra and bmw even with 4 inch catless exhaust would have sound like that and plus you can hear ppl cheering even before the times light up, that just doesn’t happen, and it must be sped up b/c no bmw m3 can have that great of a launch…thats like a 1.2 60′ time right there…wayy tooo quick for a rwd not on slicks!!!

Its from a swedish drag strip. Bilsport is a Swedish tuner mag. So, obviously, the track is going by KPH not MPH.
