Video: real life ‘Frogger’?

05/02/2006, 8:49 PM

If there’s one useful purpose traffic cameras serve, it’s catching incredible accidents as they occur at intersections. In this case, a traffic camera captured something even more amazing — an incredible near-accident that could have turned out a lot worse for everyone involved. To make a long story short, a speeding car flies through a red light and miraculously slips between several cars. Our first reaction was to call the video doctored, but the reaction of the pedestrians crossing the street tells us otherwise. Video after the jump…

WOW!!! How is that possible. The chances of being able to pull that off have got to be near impossible.

Video: Street McLaren Wannabe

I’m not sure how to describe this video. I can only say even McLaren can’t do that on the street. If you can, tell me! I think he is going more than 100mph due to limit time of reincarnation.

Looks like the traffic was actually moving quite SLOW. Even then, it’s still crazy. Not impossible though.

It’s “ever” with an “e”, not “evar”. And don’t dismiss it as a slip of the finger, the “e” and “a” keys are not next to each other.

Check out the red light camera. That guy got tagged just as he crosses the threshold of the intersection. I sure hope the law finds that guy. OK could be a female but I doubt it.

He’s an idiot, but he’s not doing 100mph. It looks like the intersection is 6 lanes wide. As a rough ballpark estimate, if each lane is 10 feet wide, that’s 60 feet, maybe be conservative and call it 70 feet after the crosswalks and center island are added. It looks like it’s taking him about 1.8 seconds to cross. 70ft/1.8s is 38.9 ft/s, or 26.5 mph. No McLaren is necessary!

tires don’t smoke at 26.5 mph, no matter how hard you hit the brakes…

If you look carefully.. I think the SUV actually hits the car, thats why the crazy car doesn’t continue completely straight.
