Backyard inventor Simon Whitlock has created a 48-cylinder, 4200cc motorcycle basically by bolting a bunch of engine parts together. It apparently took him three years to complete, overcoming some “huge problems” along the way. It needs a 75cc “Donkey” motor under the seat to start the 48-cyl engine. According to the report, the main engine weighs one ton. “Don’t look at it as a bike, look at it as a pure feat of engineering,” he said. Images and video after the jump…
By the time he reaches the corner (if he does) he’ll either burn hell out of himself or fall and crush his leg into a million pieces…

crazy. does it have 3 crankshafts geared to one another? chained? what kind of transmission can work for this application? I gotta know more, that’s insane….3 v-16’s…. Did he start with a ton of flat-2’s or v-twin’s….I love his headers with the incrementally larger section for each of the SIX banks. that’s just amazing.

I doubt it needs a transmission. I’m skeptical that all of the cylinder heads are functional. If I look at how much an engine like that weighs, the tires and frame look entirely too small and unburdened.

That’s pretty cool, people seem to have way too much time on their hands though.
I’m with Dave…..my first thought was that the frame, front end and tires are entirely too small to accomedate the supposed weight of the engine. The only way to see if this is a fraud would be to fire it up and check it out in the flesh.
I had to ask myself if I could get used to a life like that. How much *exactly* did it bother me that He was not only serving Himself, but serving ME also?
