Videos: BMW’s new TV ad campaign

First we told you about BMW’s new print ads highlighting the importance of the automaker’s independence. Later, BMW provided an official explanation of the campaign. Three of the four new TV ads — Enemy of Ideas, Benedict Arnold, and Euphemisms — have since surfaced online, and they can be seen after the jump…

I thought they looked interesting in the earlier text-only release but watching them makes me feel that they are already annoying. The guy’s voice behind them comes off as almost insulting to me for some reason and they seem like more of an internal motivational series than a consumer-oriented retail piece.

I mean, do consumers really care that much about an internal independence of ideas compared to caring about the Finshed Product? If consumers like the Finshed Product(which BMW could be advertising here directly), then they will naturally like the ideas that got it there and vice versa, so whats the point of advertising it directly?

It just doesnt seem like this ad series will either draw in new blood or make existing blood boil. Suggestion: Turn those press videos of the new 3-coupe into traditional ads, let us see the “great” special new Bangle-ized curves that he’s created/invented for us to like no matter what our opinion is of them and maybe flash us an upcoming pic of the new M3 or something…would be more effective, no?

These ads are like honey to the tongue…

I love them. And it’s not that consumers care about the internal workings of a company and how ideas are either accepted or rejected; it’s the ingenious way of marketing a company from a whole different perspective.

I salute BMW for doing so, I’m sick and tired of always seeing cars going around corners with scenery that are just hard to come buy… and many of them not being able to actually achieve those driving styles in the real world.
With a BMW you know it is not really about how fast it they are (and some of them are truly very fast) but the driving dynamics and the pleasure of the drive.

This is refreshing and thinking outside the box.
Just like they did with BMW FILMS
Just like they did with BMW COMICS

This is just different

No one wants to buy BMW so sell the car not the company.
