Ms Anonymous, the Germans really did invent the car (in 1886) not Mr. Ford. What Ford did that was really innovative was using the assembly line and interchangeable parts to mass produce cars, not the one-at-a-time method Gottleib Daimler and most other manufacturers used.

The Dr. Z spots are funny in their own way, a little quirky, but they don’t really show what he’s done for Chrysler. The new 300c is really nice looking, much nicer than a Ford Taurus or a Chevy Impala.

Mebbe they should have shown him as a tough boss, kicking out the execs from their posh Stuttgart offices and moving them to a run-down factory on the edge of town and his top-to-bottom rework of DaimlerChrysler instead, as chairman he’s done an excellent job. Others agree: stock prices are way up, and unlike Ford and GM’s junk bond status for bonds, this company might be around for another 100 years.

Whether or not German autos are superior to American cars has nothing to do with this ridiculous ad campaign. What I completely resent is the way the Germans convey that air of superiority. Like, your Americans cars were NOTHING until we took them over! Look how great they are now that they have the expertise of our wonderful German engineering! You Americans are idiots! Doesn’t he even say that “after all, vee (the Germans) invented the automobile” — I thought Henry Ford invented it, no? Even if they did, I just resent the whole tone of the message. Maybe I’m bitter because a German company took over my employer and that’s exactly the way the German executives are — they can run our company SOOOOO much better than we ever could. Yeah, that’s why the company is such a lousy place to work now, everyone’s quitting and morale is horrible. So when I see Dr. Z, all I can think of is Hans/Franz and all those other pompous a**holes at my company. It’s just like them to think Americans will want to run out and buy a Chrysler now that a German is advertising it. Geez, Mabel, those Germans are really SMART so those Chryslers MUST be good, huh?

I am so sick of the Dr.Z commercials. I must say that it is making me hate Chrysler products. I would bet money on these ads doing more damage than good for Chrysler. Get rid of Dr.Z PLEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

Dr. Z is just another in a long line of corporate execs who get the idea (or go along with an ad agency’s idea) that it’d be “cool” to have the big-shot muckety-muck CEO “dumb down” to the level of Joe and Jane Q. Public to relate with them on their level.

“Hey, da boss’s on tv making an “asche” of himself! What a cool dude! His comapny/product must be cool, too! Ha ha ha! I have to run out and buy one of whatever he’s selling right now!”

Dr. Z’ s just joined the ranks of Dave Thomas, Orville Redenbacher, Walt Disney, Tom Carvel, Lee Iococca, Bob Kaufman (Bob’s Discount Furniture), and other spokesexecs.

Well, if the Daimler-Chrysler gig doesn’t work out, I can just hear him yelling, “Hooooogan!!”

you need to get a grip on reality,he’s a business man {duh} not bad for a cat born in Turkey! all I have to say
is I have given American auto makers every chance in the
book…thats why I dont buy the crap that ford and GM
are selling all I can say is thank God the Germans who buy the way Invented the Automobile,have taken over Chrysler I have owned the Dodge and Chrysler name plate
and ford etc…thats why I started driving a German Auto
I love the Chrysler design team and now finally I can
have style and a well built auto,we purchased a Jeep commander..fit and finish are A plus,and it is built like a tank a German tank ahh Z Panzer,thanks DR.Z
oh and buy the way E.K. I hope DR.Z keeps {driving} you nuts,because I dont like you or your Idiot comments !!
also chrysler sales are climbing ford is still in the **** house and GM is in big trouble..why would you fire the ad agency for D.C. on stats like that,quality has gone up?

…but those are some good ads featuring Dr Z…….

I may drive my six speed manual shift (you know, the kind with a clutch) Honda……………….but I really appreciate the PR/advertising firm that DC has hired…………..

The ad agency they chose should be fired and burned alive. What a mistake. Makes German’s look stupid. Makes Dodge look like they can’t do anyting on their own, need the German’s to help out… which it never did… and man, Crystler didn’t help out Mercedes either… the quality of both groups have gone down hill since the merger. Anyway… these are horrible commercials… the ad agency, which I have a feeling is BBDO, worst agency on the planet along with most of the others, should go out of business. If anyone from DodgeBenz reads this… get a new agency, fire you head marketing VP or director… clean house… get back on your feet… and really think out how to save both fo the companies that so many have abandoned… Mercedes should be ashamed of itself anyway for merging with DODGE… hahahahaha… sad.

I think the Dr.Z commercials are amongst the most innovative that have been seen in some time.
Not only do we own two Town and Country’s we will be buying a new one to replace our two year old van.
It is really a marvelous and remarkably reliable car. It is also very comfortable for my 6′ 4″ husband. You can certainly go shopping and get everything you need in the car and easily retrieve your items.
Great cars and great value.

Gisele Zetsche, wife of Chrysler Group CEO Dieter Zetsche, is in hot water after serving beer to several underage teens at her Bloomfield Township home in June. The party was attended by one hundred teens; Gisela was present but her husband was not. Police responding to a noise complaint, and charged her with allowing minors to drink. According to witnesses this is not the first party hosted at the Zetsche home with alcohol provided to minors. In April 2004 an after-prom party was attended by several hundred students and lasted until 4 a.m. In Germany, where the Zetsche’s are from originally, the legal drinking age is 16. Dieter Zetsche is unavailable for comment. “I think it’s adequate that you talked with the public relations department (of Chrysler),” he said from the front door of his home. “Let’s just leave it at that, OK?” Several parents of the 21 teens cited for underage drinking at the June party said they were upset with Mrs. Zetsche for allowing it to happen. These parties are not entirely new, as Jay Allen reported in April, but police in Bloomfield Township are, according to Chief of Police Jeffrey Warner, paying more attention to the issue as it’s a “serious offense.” Perhaps the Zetsche’s need to read “How to be a cool yet responsible parent”?

Having seen several of the new Daimler Chrysler commercials, I must give you an honest impression. Watching a German engineer enter a car with a rather nerdy looking American is not going to sell any cars. Chrysler is a well loved American institution, and seeing someone (CEO, Dr. Dieter Zetsche), who sounds at best like Kaiser Wilhelm and at worst like Dr. Mengele, riding around maniacally just emphasizes the Germanization of Chrysler. The invasion of the United States, something Germany was unable to do during WWII, now becomes a reality, thanks to Daimler Chrysler. What’s the viewer supposed to think —“The ovens worked, I guess the cars do too�?? I bet that grosses you out, me too! Tell me the truth; did General Motors write those commercials, or maybe Ford? Was the Turkish born driver a member of the Hitler youth? Will we be audience to Jeeps racing with Rommel in the desert? I hope this raises some issues for the Public Relations department at Daimler-Himmler. In the meantime, please get Dr. Dieter Zetsche out of my “liebensraum.”

LOL, I think these commercials are good. Hell do you blame Chrysler for touting its German engineering in some of the products?? I have to say when the 300C came out and I knew the thing had MB underpinnings it made me think about buying one….beats ancient Ford or GM architecture anyday. I think he is funny, my grandfather is German and is not funny, interesting to see a German making me laugh…. As for Mercedes not associating with Chrysler, why would they need to?? LOL, they don’t!

I like the first commercial, even if Dr. Z talks to fast. The way they scripted and shot and staged it makes it fun to watch even if you don’t care about the cars. The others aren’t quite as strong.

I like the commercials, although they’re not as good as the “Unpimp my auto” commercials from VW. I thought it was kind of funny that they are promoting the soon to be discontinued Liberty CRD. I also thought it was interesting that they don’t mention the “Hemi” once.

There is a huge picture of his head on the Chrysler Auburn Hills HQ building when you are driving down I-75 near Detroit. I seriously thought about the images on CNN of Saddam on every building in Iraq and the similarities are striking. That really doesn’t make me want to buy a Chrysler.
