This car will make production by moving the Viper upmarket? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

The Reason it has the lines on the hood is probably too look like the boot of a 1961 Chrysler New yorker or something, same as the grill, kinda New Yorker/Old 300 series looking.. i like it.. but now to me it really DOES look like it's looking backwards.. Still.. lets just hope the BIG 3 can get their act together... BRING BACK THE PLYMOUTH NAME WITH THE 'CUDA AND SUPERBIRD WITH HEMIS PLEASE!!!!!

I've been saying for years the best thing that could happen to the viper is replacing the gigantic v10 with a high-output hemi... could result in lower weight, better mileage, better sound, tighter moment of inertia (b/c if set back at the same distance, the CG of the engine would be further back), less heat soak, lower build costs, more conservative torque and lighter weight could mean smaller tires (could mean lighter wheels> less unsprung weight>better ride, more predictable handling)

My concern is that as a chrysler it won't be built with low weight in mind and may actually end up weighing more than a viper, which would be a real shame...

At any rate, it'll be better finished than a viper, at lower cost... so it'd pose a more legit comparison to other high-end GTs, like maybe a jag xk. But I'm hoping 'vette territory

there's a few concepts out with hemi's and viper trans... namely the challenger, but also several hotrods. it'll happen.

I hope they keep it priced low enough that the firepower will be a direct replacement for the crossfire. then it'd be a legit

So Vipers moving up market....

I was going to ask why does Chrysler have those lines on the hood? It may be something somewhat remmisent of older chryslers, but it doesn't look good on modern cars like this. Same goes for all of the other models that you have that your doing it to.
Oh yeah and Dr. Z rules... it's probably going to be more like 6 Aveos LOL. If this is going to slot somewhere around where the Viper is (or was when this comes out) it will probably be... 80,000$ (and Viper moved up some)? But then again that's nothing more than a guess but still LOL

Wow, an Aston Martin front end, and a Porsche 928 rear end. Even the tail lights are 928 ish. If it had the rear quarter windows, it would be almost exactly a 928 rip off. It does strongly resemble a concept from Carrol Shelby a few years back in the over all appearance. Pretty nice even though it has no original design element.

Hemi power, Viper handling, less tacky than a Vette, under $50k. And it looks stunning in person, not at all plasticky (and not as Aston-like as you guys seem to think). The market for this car is non-mulleted guys who buy Vettes for the package but cringe at the looks and image. They ought to be able to do 10k a year without too much trouble. I'll be buying one, assuming they offer it with a six-speed manual.

I actually saw this car at barret jackson this year. It is kinda aston martin very true but it sure looks nice to me. The front grill needs a little work it looks like a big ass grin on its face, but overall REAL REAL nice looking. it had the 6.1 hemi in it at barret jackson but I guess they could also put the new 6.6 hemi in it as well (good ideaa to offer both). I agree they definetly MUST offer a six speed manual with this as well and some kind of sports handling stiffer suspension package as options. Looks real good to me i will check this out if it comes out and i am on my third Vette now.. Bravo Mopar your starting to catch up a bit.. more than we can say for Ford..

I just hope the interior is not the el-cheapo rubbermaid quality crap they put in the 300C. Even the SRT-8 300C has crap interior. The 300C SRT would have been on my shopping list if it weren't for that deficiency. Please DCX, put a nice interior in this car, NOT walmart quality. At least match the cheapest of the german interiors (A4,3 Series, etc).

Thanks

Looks promising for sure, let's hope it sees production! As for the Viper, if it is really moving up market, let's hope they replace it's disgusting and inexcusable "mini van" interior. When your $75,000+ sports car icon shares the interior with your soccer mom, people carrier...you've got problems

The grille is stupid. Where is the market for this car? AM V8 Vantage buyers nope Porsche 911 buyers, nope Corvette buyers, doubt it. I doubt this will see production, hasn't chrysler learnt from the Crossfire debacle?

By the way there are 7 days in every week gm rules

Wait.. so this is going to slot where the Viper used to be and the Viper is going to go slightly upmarket?
I like this car finally American designers do something fairly good. Hopefully it will have good numbers to go along with good looks too!

It's not bad for an American Sports car. if this car wants to ever make people drool, they need to lose that grill that chrysler seem to always slap on, keep it open lose the chrome and the edges are too sharp. What I really like is the rear, kind of like a only porsche.

Great. This should compete with the lower-spec Corvette, while the Viper could be the competitor to the Blue Devil version of the Corvette. Pretty interesting... :-)

Eh... Looks like a dressed up Crossfire... I don't like it. For how much they are going to charge for this thing, if it's going to look like an Aston, go buy one.... The paint is going to peel off the hood and roof anyway, it's a Dodge.

it looks great! i'd like to see it in a differant color though. it definatly needs a name change too. i dont think chrysler is aiming this car at the vette, but the caddy xlr. i say, kill the crossfire, and replace it with this. or, make this the crossfire. why not?

Brilliant. I hate to say it, but moves like this are making a Chrysler fan out of me. I've never really liked Chrysler cars because of their nototrius quality issues. But even quality issues seem to be diminishing. I think this is a beautiful car that would really be competeing against the BMW 6 series and the Porsche 911. If I remember correctly, they were thinking of a price point around 50-60k. So maybe moving the Viper up would make room for an elite model Firepower in the 70-80k range. I don't really see this car competing with the Viper anyway in that it would be more refined... A businessman's sports car.

Nick, the Firepower is to battle the Vette, basically a Viper chassy with a hi-power v8. The Viper is still the pure, unaldultrated powerhouse sports car. They are trying to refine it to better compete with the 80-150k sports/exotic segment.

the front, it's a design that make me think about a lot of plastic, because it doesn't seem very "real", just aconcept.then, american cars had always have a lot of chrome, but in this case, it seems again a fake stuff around the label. it don't have the personality of a 300 C, which i like, and here in italy there are a lot, especially if you think it is big and "american".
