We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see Chrysler’s all-new SRT Viper in its entirety, but the Auburn Hills-based automaker has revealed part of the new car.
It may not give away too much about the third-generation Viper, but Chrysler’s SRT team has fully revealed the car’s new logo. Dubbed “Stryker”, the new logo represents the third new badge for the Viper, following the original “Sneaky Pete” and followup “Fangs”.
The “Stryker” logo was penned by Chrysler designer Vince Galante, who also happens to be a Viper fan and owner. Galante admits Stryker somewhat resembles a character that might have appeared on the cartoon Thundercats, but says the logo was inspired by past Viper symbols as well as the shape of the new car.
“I never looked at images of the Thundercats while I was doing the new logo, but after the fact, I realize that the new design has some elements of those graphics, but more intentionally has some lines that reflect the new Viper,” Galante told DriveSRT.com.
Take a closer look at Chrysler’s most recent Viper teaser and you’ll notice “Stryker” front and center.
The 2013 SRT Viper is scheduled to make its public appearance at the upcoming New York auto show.
