Major automotive parts supplier Visteon Corporation has announced that it plans to scale back the work week for more than 2,000 workers in Michigan. The move spares the workers’ jobs, but forces them to take a 20 percent pay cut as the struggling supplier attempts to stay afloat during this tumultuous period for the industry.
The move will affect all 2,000 workers at Visteon’s Van Buren Township, Michigan, headquarters, as well as 50 workers at a testing center in Plymouth, Michigan. Visteon employs about 35,000 workers worldwide.
The schedule for the workers will be evaluated at the end of January, a Visteon representative told members of the media.
Visteon was spun off of Ford Motor Company in 2000. It is a major electronics supplier to Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, as well as Nissan and Hyundai.

I’d rather have 32 hours than none.
Do these workers keep their benefits?
