Volkswagen has released the first official images of its new 2013 Cross Caddy, a passenger van that is offered with either five or seven seats.
Volkswagen has given the Cross Caddy the same treatment as other Cross-badged members of its European lineup. The van features plastic and brushed aluminum trim on both bumpers and on both rocker panels, plastic trim around the wheel arches, fog lights integrated into the front bumpers and roof rails. Available model-specific "Viper Green" paint and 17-inch alloy wheels mounted on low-profile tires finish off the look.
The interior is nearly identical to that of the regular Caddy but it comes with more standard equipment. Leather is found on the steering wheel and the shift boot, the upholstery features a two-tone motif while tinted windows and an armrest for the front passengers come standard.
When it goes on sale, the Cross Caddy will be available with the same gasoline- and diesel-burning four-cylinder engines as the regular Caddy. Unlike other members of Volkswagen's cross lineup, the Caddy will be offered with all-wheel drive.
After greeting the show-going crowd in Paris next week, the Cross Caddy will go on sale across Europe early next year. At the time of writing Volkswagen does not plan on selling the van in the United States.
