Volkswagen Eos Highway 1

08/20/2006, 11:23 PM

By admin

Volkswagen this weekend unveiled the Eos Highway 1 design study at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Eos Highway 1 sits about an inch lower than the stock version due to a coil-over suspension system from H&R Special Springs. The car is also fitted with 20 x 8-inch Mille Miglia multi-spoke alloys, wrapped in low and wide 245/30 Continental performance tires. The Eos Highway 1’s drive train features the 250-horsepower 3.2-liter V6 combined with the innovative DSG double-clutch 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic. Gallery after the jump…

Looks good, the front is just a little too corporate though. I think they should’ve gone for something a little more different and aggressive.

Camron – Basically, no… it shares a few components with the A4 Cabrio, such as the engine and transmission, but chasses (platform) and other such parts are based on the new Jetta/Golf… although the engine here is available in the A4 Cabrio, as well as with the new Jetta and Golf.
Hope that helps… :)

Interior is a little nausiating…but the wheels add a lot of visual interest to an otherwise plain sided car.

Neat car but those 20″ rims are wayyyyy too childish for its intended market. And talk about bland wheel style, those are Mille Miglia F20 rims that have been around for years. For a “one of” specialty/custom show car, it really reveals the lack of creativity from the people who put it together.

I saw this Eos at a car show, and I can’t say I am really impressed. The thing is so small! It’s really a convertible Rabbit, for $30K!! Yikes. I can’t say I am a big fan of the G6 convertible either, but at least I can fit in it. If I truely wanted a convertible, I’d go buy a Saturn Sky. Not to mention, I’m sure it will be of the same quality as it’s fellow brethren.

G6 has a cheapo 2-piece roof that just folds and then takes up all the trunk space, only the XLRs roof is worse. The eos has a 3 piece glass roof with articulating panels to take up minimal trunk space. German engineering triumphs again.
Good luck with your SKy purchase Piablo, I, for one, won’t be jealous

All you have to do is maintain it properly. The cars are so good people drive them for ten years before tuning them!I cursed VW when I was in grade 10 or something because my car wasn’t heating in -45 c winter, then I stepped back and remembered that the VW car was 25 years old or something. All other makes of cars of that year were already crushed at the wrecking yard.
