wow a 600hp Skyline? Well then that would change anyone’s perception of quick. What’s the 0-60 time like on that thing? 1/4 mile? I’m just curious….

On another experience a friend of mine’s step-dad owns a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel. He has a bully dog chip on that thing and he can program it to pump out over 700ft lbs of torque! I’ve never been pinned in the back of my seat in a truck like that before! He’s even upset a few Corvette’s on the freeway, I felt bad for the Vette’s… lol

SS4LIFE – Unfortunately I don’t get exposure to such cars, except my friend’s 600bhp Skyline, or another friend’s NSX-R (Not great on the bhp, but what a car!)
As Diesels go, the new ones are really a lot quicker than the old, but it’s the performance diesels with stupid amounts of torque that really make you smile… Unfortunately the driving dynamics and enjoyabilty are still not with diesels but with petrol…

no you def can’t complain JohnnyBlazE, I guess when you get used to riding and driving 300hp to 400hp modded cars and V8 Domestics, your perception of quick changes, lol mine certainly did. But yeah for a Golf that’s quick, I’ve just experienced driving in one older Golf TDI (maybe from the 90’s) that had like 90-100hp it wasn’t fast. That was my only experience with a turbo diesel.

NOW we’re talkin’. Everyone’s been wishing for a diesel hybrid for years and it may finally be here. Hopefully VW can make them reliable enough so they’re not in the shop more than they’re on the road getting almost SEVENTY mpg; that’s great. A “safe” four-seater that could get 60+ mpg, outstanding.

SS4Life: My mate has a Golf GT Tdi and it easy left a 325i Sport behind on A roads, due to its torque… that was with 130bhp, but now it’s packing 170bhp with minor mods and silly amounts of torque! A Golf diesel that does 60 in less than 7 seconds and returns great mpg (unless its REALLY ragged!) – can’t complain.

Right LP because the AMG Mercedes and the BMW M5’s get 50mpg in their V10’s…. The Golf TDI is as slow as your mom’s mentally retarded and amputee lover that you were a result of.

I also happen to like VW and I never said anything bad about the Golf TDI or any other car that’s European, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, American or etc… I’m nowhere as biased as you think or say. I’m not biased actually like you are.

Why does it take a diesel-electric Golf hybrid with a 1.2L four to get only 55.2 (69 Imperial mpg)?

typical undeducated statement… I guess your as blind as you are stupid because you didn’t even say anything in response to my 3rd paragraphed comment. I actually said something good about the Gof TDI Hybrid because I do get its purpose.

I also have the experience of being stuck in the back seat of a regular 4 door golf TDI during a 150mile trip and we would have been there probably in half the time if it was actually fast because it was very slow.

My comments unlike yours actually have some sense in them. And while some of yours do they are ruined by the rest of the ignorant words that come out of your ass. Why don’t you do us all a favor and go and move to Europe, if you love it soo much and think its soo much better. I’m sure the red light district in Amsterdam could use another 500lb transvestite prostitute such as yourself. You’d fit in there very well.

oooh man that VW Golf is packing a “fire breathing” 73HP! That’s gotta be the quickest thing ever…
And whoever says that turbo diesels are the quickest things on the planet can go hang themselves.

I rode in a Golf TDI going from Detroit to Grand Rapids with four people in it and I swear I could have ran there faster.

Ok I get it though for fuel mileage owning and driving one of these things especially in a European city or even a big city like NY or Chicago LA, Etc with rising fuel prices and with it being more affordable then other TDI’s this would be a nice choice. Also good to hear that they are improving the CO2 emissions on these things.
