the jetta or bora is considered a geriatric vehicle in germany. in fact, the jetta was renamed the bora, in part, to overcome the stigma that the jetta nameplate came with. jetta/bora, call it what you like, didn't change the german view of the sedan version of the golf. (if you remember, the first jetta was a frankensteined golf with a trunk (read rabbit and fox for americans)) the golf, however, sells a lot better. consequently, what we know as the jetta wagon, or sportwagen in it's latest iteration, has always been marketed as a golf wagon in europe, with minor cosmetic changes (nose cone and tail lights), of course.

JakeK, the Jetta Sportwagen IS the Golf wagon in European markets. The same applies for the MKIV generation of the Jetta Wagon, and when they send a MKVI Jetta to the US market we will probably [continue to] see a similar vehicle to this one.

2TellUTheTruth, I have no idea what you are saying, but VW can't sell in US because their cars that are manufactured in Mexico (Rabbit/Jetta/Bug) are extremely unreliable. They do sell well in Europe (because of other brands as well) in So. America and China.

Interesting. I know vw makes money, or profit, off their company(ies), but I dont see where they make the sales over here in the U.S. anymore. The engineering is great, but all their products should be poppin like the 'cc' or the 'eos'; then the numbers might jump off a lil more! Their product line looks good, but not all dat hot [all thru-out at least; I should say]. I know they got the designs because of some of their products (n concepts), but they need their whole line-up to be on fire! N when I say fire, I mean at least as hot as the 'cc' or even 'eos'!

Too bad. Unfortunately wagons are second rate citizens over here. Here's hoping the likes of the CTS can help change that. They are still going to build it, right?

Jetta wagon and this are world apart at least visually. This one is taller. I saw VW wagons of past generation in Europe and they taller and even come with AWD option. Basically, they are people and cargo movers and I saw them only with diesel engines. I am sure they come out with gasoline engines as well, but I never observed one on the road. They are tallish and decent looking. Interior to die for. Exterior not to shabby either.

@ CADDY-V - yeah i'm not usually a fan of domestics but the CTS wagon does look really good

And i'm disappointed with VW for just slapping the golf front end on this, is that what their going to do to NA's Jetta?

I don't think LeftLane's editors have this correct. In Europe, the Golf Wagon is our Jetta Wagon. VWVortex has posted the 2010 specs/changes for the Jetta Wagon, and it seems we'll be getting this new model, based on this description:

Actually, went back to vortex to cut and paste, but there's a note in the old post indicating that VW didn't want it released yet.

However, it did state that the Jetta Wagon would have a new hood, front end, etc.

Again, just like Scirroccoco its not worth retooling another plant in Mex to offer this here at pricepoint necesary. If they send it from Deutcheland it will be too much $. Atleast we get the Roostan.

It does look like they just grafted the new Golf nose on the old Jetta wagon body. No progress there.

I guess they don't have the Jetta in Europe? At least not the Jetta wagon, or having both models would be ridiculous since it's they are the same thing. I guess we will be expecting a Jetta that's updated soon, or they just gonna pass us by on that model too because we don't appreciate the refinements like Europeans do.
