Volkswagen GX3 no fantasy

01/06/2006, 9:10 AM

A few reports have been circulating online that the two-seater Volkswagen GX3 shown earlier this week may be nothing more than a publicity stunt. In our extensive report on the car, we reported that Volkswagen had set an estimated price of $17,000 for the car/motorcycle crossover. Since Volkswagen had gone into such detail with its concept, it seemed unlikely the GX3 was merely a “fantasy” as some had suggested. Today, we can confirm that Volkswagen is considering building the car. In a statement, the company said, “a production counterpart of the GX3 could be on the market very soon. [...] It all depends on the American driver’s feedback.”

I love this thing. They should build it. It should be less than $17,000 though. When you consider how much a golf costs and everything you get with it, $17,000 seems alot for so much less. If they could get it around $11,000 I would buy one.

If it’s as fun to drive as it looks, pls have Volkswagen put my name on their list. I have the check ready.

GX3 would be worth all of $17K. You could have my check in the morning. First inclination is this is for a small niche, however look at the general revival in motorcycles and side car rigs. This would be pure sport and good for the environment and pocket book. I hope they make it and I can get mine soon.
