Volkswagen had a surprise for attendees at the Tokyo Motor Show today. The company unveiled what it calls the “EcoRacer,” a fuel-efficient, quick sports car. A carbon fiber body means the mid-engine sports car weighs in at only 850 kilograms, or about 1,850 pounds. The EcoRacer’s average fuel consumption is as low as 3.4 liters per 100km (70mpg) and it reaches a maximum speed of 230 km/h (140mph). This sports car is powered by a 100 kW turbo diesel, and can reach 100km/h (62mph) in a little over six seconds.
