I've always felt that the downward slope and bias of the front end design of newer VW's makes them have a "weak" presence rather than a "sporty" one. Also, this isn't close to the same as the Phaeton; the major reason why the Phaeton didn't do well was because it wasn't as good as it's competitors, and it didn't have anything from Volkswagen to associate with as high end luxury.
