Despite being having less number of saloon
sales in North America, it is planning to get the restyled Phaeton back to US? VW was always on with experiment,
let's see whether it'll indeed in positive result or not.

We have a Phaeton, and to be honest, this is probably the best car we have ever purchased. The design itself, is remarkable. I have had the opportunity to drive the Bentley GT ,and to be honest, the Phaeton runs neck and neck. Very nice job VG.

It still looks almost exactly like the old car. And looks, I think, are the big reason why the car originally failed. I like that it's understated, but it doesn't appear upscale enough to justify the price.

And by the way, that is a HUGE dead pedal.

looks eerily similar to the last one... how did that one work out again?

Oh, that's right, crappy...

Don't make the same mistakes again VW. As Johnny stated, give it a diesel, and keep it priced within reach. I would love to see this car for under 50k. But maybe people will buy them for 60K?

i think overall it is not a bad design. you gotta remember they have to keep the styling "below" an A8 or they would just take sales away from Audi.

Everyone is bashing last gen's sale but that was just in the US, it sold well in europe & asia.

Speaking of VW. Anyone notice they posted up a secret unveiling for June 15th on their website? Could that be that new larger Jetta everyone keeps talking about?

I am with you on older 7 and S class. Current crop is less then thrilling looking. I have no idea if this car is good or bad, I actually believe it to be an excellent car, maybe even better then A8. The problem "old" Phaeton had, the fellow in the green polyester suit peddling Bug to retarded chick could not explain this car to a customer. Heck, he couldn't even talk to a customer with appetite for over 25K car. What have changed at VW dealership since "old" Phaeton?

It rides on the a longer modified version of the A6 without all the aluminum. I like this alot. Then again i Loved the original Phaeton. It was ultra lux, great design, but it's price point killed it. But even now a used Phaeton remains one of the best deals you can get on a car. I like the simple lines of this one... I do agree with Johnny on this one. Since it is Flagship model, they should have distinguished the grille a bit instead of sticking with the corporate face that is kinda of bland .

It is a very elegant and clean design... where it loses all credibility is with the grill. I can just see someone pressing the remote-entry on their Golf's key fob and wondering why the lights didn't flash.

The inside looks super comfy and quality-built.

The design is classic, but looks miles ahead of the S-Klass and the 7-series, and close to its relative, the A8, at least according to the pics released of that car.

I like it, i didn't like the old phaeton but i could get used to this one. VW needs to be careful pricing it.

I'm not seeing anything remotely interesting in this vehicle at all. It looks a lot like the next gen Passat photo-leaks with the back end of a Buick Lucerne. Yeah there is interesting tech in it but for that price I'd like to feel good about my vehicle and not like a douchy letargic old VW driving moron.

You know why I like this very much? Because I'm still very much a fan of the classic mercedes and bmw vehicles that had simple but elegant, long lines, a real trunk, a long front hood…you know what I mean? The 2001 bmw 740, 1998 s500…those are my favorite 7-series and s-class models! They still are great today because they are designed "simply" with classic lines, not dramatic curves like in the new s-class, which I will bet will hold it's value for a shorter amount of time than it's other versions. Heck, even a 2005 s430 with amg package appeals to me more than the current lineup! I think bmw is kind of going back to their original designs, noticeable with the new 7-series.

Back to this car, I've driven the v12 phaeton, so you might say that I would be biased, but I frikin love this car!!! I don't care what ANYBODY says! This car is GREAT! The only thing I wish we would get here is the 4.2 liter TDi.

There is just TOO MUCH going on in that interior.
Simple is beautiful.
I DO like the bottle of bubbly in the back though.
