Volkswagen has issued a recall of its 2007-2009 Touareg SUVs over faulty fasteners that might crack and loosen the roof spoiler, which could send it flying off of the vehicle. The automaker will install reinforcement wedges to the spoilers on the affected models.
Owners are advised to visit their dealers or contact Volkswagen USA’s customer service. The repair will be made free of charge by Volkswagen dealers beginning immediately.
The German automaker says that the recall covers 14,416 affected Touaregs.

this is a perfect timing to ask my question! Does leftlane post every single recall, or do they pick the ones that they think will get everyone to talk??

MRN, you are completely wrong: with us old folks the constipation is the reason for discomfort. Loose stools are captured by Depends (most of the time).

hhhhmmm those fasteners must have been spec’d by the same person who spec’d the one’s for the Jetta windows a few years ago! Remember all those Jettas about 7 years ago with duct tape holding up the windows….

Not surprised in the least bit, every person I know that has a VW, mostly either Jettas or Touaregs all say how much they regret buying them. Always in the shop, mostly all lemons. VWs have always had fairly good looking cars with great interiors, too bad they can’t keep the reliability up.

Hey it’s better than faulty lights that toyota won’t cover, or having your camaro lose all power in the middle of the desert. VW is being a good, honest company and fixing them for FREE.

zeegone,
your comment carries 0 credibility! That’s like me saying everyone I know has had a sh!tty reliability experience with lexus! I’m on my second new vw, it’s been about 5 years since I we had the jetta and now we have the passat, aside from the oil changes, we never had to take it back to the dealer!

Well goody for you idwhatever, all the people I was referring to weren’t so lucky. And it wasn’t just 1 person, it was more like 5 (3 jettas and 2 touerags). And way to pick the worst analogy possible, Lexus vs VW reliability…..good one.
tripleonefive- I think we were all waiting for NMOFGM on this one too!

wow i didn’t know it was that hard for you to copy and paste zeewhatever! It’s been said before, and I’ll repeat it for someone who said it, you only hear about vw problems, which appear unrealistic, from people who “know so many people who have them…” but rarely hear about someone who actually owns one and has a problem! Why is that??I know why, but I don’t wanna put you down or something!

Wow that was an awesome comeback with the name thing, another point for you!
You’re right idblahblah, I completely made up that story. I don’t know any of those people I was talking about and everyone I know who has a VW has zero problems with them and would not trade them in for more reliable cars like a Lexus ever. Problems with Jettas and Touaregs are completely unheard of, I don’t know what I was thinking, that was just crazy talk!!

The problem with VW is that people keep mentioning problems. Unrealistic or not. And Consumer Reports backs that claim up. From personal experience I can tell you it’s far from reliable – both the first version and the updated current model.
At least VAG is fixing this problem. Otherwise someone might start foundtouaregspoilers.com.

VW is a company that TRULY produces JUNK. And yet, THEY supposedly are doing relatively good financially………
VW can’t produce a decent a dipstick tube, spoiler, window regulator, engine, rubber hose, air intake (they suck in water when you drive thru a puddle), etc etc etc… just google VW sucks if you don’t believe me.

zeegone,
jdpower?? you mean that company that gets paid to be biased on reviews?? I’m sure even you can go down that list and wonder, “hey what the? That got that? and that got this?” Keep it coming. I have one question for you though, if you follow JD, then how come JD has some of the most inconsistent scores compared to the rest of the automotive review industry? I’m not saying that vw is the best made car on earth, because they are far from it, but I have yet to see, with my own two eyes, not even one person, who claims such ludicrous amounts of problems with a vw! And if I hear about it, it’s because I read it online!

Whatever you say id——-, 2 people on this post already agreed with me so keep on digging your hole. If you claim you’ve never heard another person in real life say they’ve never ever had problems with their VW then you must not get out much. Some of JD’s scores may be a little biased here and there but they’re sure a more reputable source then you. Some of their scores do surprise me but on the other hand they report what they research on so they know simply more then us, yes even you. I’ll trust them and stay clear of VW’s both when shopping for a new car and on the highways, especially Touaregs! hahhaa

I could honestly care less what your opinion is towards vw or any other car manufacturer for that matter, From my point of view and experience, I have never had a problem with vw…yet at least. When I do have some kind of problem, I’ll make sure to call you first and congratulate you! As for me not going out much, you are somewhat new to this forum, get to know me first before making stupid comments like that!

I haven’t heard much first hand about Passats so you can relax. Try not being so offensive next time then maybe we can have a more mature intelligent chat here. Besides supporting your stance you more just wined and cried about my statements. Chill out, gEEEEz. Post done!

it’s weird how the globalization thing works.in Europe people see VW as solid and reliable and Japanese cars not so much, in the US it’s the other way around.

i think that might have something to do with the fact that there are more diesels in europe. Almost all diesels variants made in germany are more reliable than their gas counterpart made for america.

Recall on a VW or any German product is just part of ownership. The rest of us won’t go near this German pile crap and go for the real deal like a GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave or Chevy Traverse.
Be American. Buy American. Buy GM.
