Volkswagen chose to feature customized versions of two of its newest models, the swoopy CC sedan and the efficient diesel Jetta TDI, at the industry-only SEMA show in Las Vegas. Not too surprisingly, the German automaker didn’t have any modified Routan minivans on display – and Leftlane didn’t see spokeswoman Brooke Shields, either.
The CC, which VW called its Eco Performance Concept, stood out from a standard CC thanks to a custom body kit with chrome black accents and “digital ghost” graphics throughout. That same theme continued inside, where Recaro leather seats, piano black trim and matte graphics spruced up the interior. Under its hood, the CC Eco Performance Concept received an APR Stage 3 Turbocharger that boosted its 2.0 liter four-cylinder to up to 311 horsepower and 313 lb-ft. of torque. The Turbocharger has three performance levels that give a little more power – with increased fuel consumption – depending on the level. In Eco mode, the CC puts out 222 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque.
Underneath, the CC featured an H&R coil over suspension kit, 14 inch Brembo brakes up front and CC VR6 brakes out back. The CC rides on custom-designed 20 inch wheels.
The less-modified TDI Cup “Street” Concept showcased VW’s TDI Cup body kit, stickers and suspension and braking bits courtesy of VW’s European market parts bin.

I like that color on the CC. Would be a great color for the GTI.

They need to dust that interior of the CC. It looks like a used car!

That CC is a great looking car. I think its a vast improvement in styling compared to the current Passat. The front of the CC looks sporty and stylish. So did are they saying that the Eco CC has 3 turbos on that engine? Not quite sure if i’m understanding the real purpose of that. Wish they had the GTI R concept there! Looking forward to seeing what that will look like once it hits production.

uhh no… it has one turbo with 3 levels of performance, basically just setting how crazy your ECU remap goes. The “eco” mode just helps save gas for those with a lead foot… it obviously sucks through it alot quicker at the highest power level. Think the “M” button in the M5.

Funny it took so long for anybody to think about having multiple level of performance from a turbo engine. It would seem quite simple to simply load 3 different ECU versions and quickly switch from one to the other, or just modify a few parameters on the fly.
Good thinking though, it should add nothing to the cost, but allow for power on demand, which I guess one could do if they knew how to drive correctly in the first place without the 3 modes…
On a side note, I like the look of these cars. Finally VW has decided to go a little more aggressive in their design, because honestly, even the new R32 doesn’t look all that compared with its purpose.

Too bad Volkswagen isn’t doing BMW’s interiors, then you’d really be cookin’ with gas.

Not making excuses, but SEMA is in Vegas, and we have a major dust problem here. If you dust your furniture in this town, three hours later you’ll want to do it again. You get used to it, though.
